that's a pretty great video. i have a fun story about maxine waters- remember when phil ivey made the final table of the wsop main event (think it was like 2009ish)? full tilt had a promotion called "piece of ivey" where they ran a special freeroll tournament with some cash payouts and the winner also got a 1% piece of whatever phil ivey's main event score was. i believe it was before the november 9, because i played that 23,000 person freeroll and unbelievably made it HU against an account named "MaxineWaters". we made a gentleman's agreement to chop the 1%, i think .75 for the winner and .25 for the runner up, and she proceeded to outdraw me like 3 times ftw. later that night phil busted 7th or 8th or w/e for a disappointing finish but maxine was all class and honored her end of the agreement, shipping me my .25% in a player transfer once her account was credited.

tks maxine!

the onus is on you to prove he isn't a moron. dude is a racist inbred hick from alabama who has spent his life working to prevent blacks from having the full protections and rights of white people, and you were totally wrong about him "minimizing damage"- if that were true, he'd be sitting on a judicial bench right about now. this is the same dude who just couldn't help himself from referring to black people as ******s throughout his time as governor and thought it'd be cool to make comments on the record about how he'd be down with the KKK if only they didn't smoke weed.

you're just auto-extending him the benefit of the doubt because reasons. the dicksucking comment was a bit of a bannon reference, but i wasn't kidding- you're giving him far too much credit here.

Waging war on congress sure is a good strategy to get legislation passed. Trump just cant stop winning.

Sessions was never the governor of Alabama. he was the A.G. for two years (Jan '95 - Jan '97). probably just an oversight on your part. carry on.

Definitely. Our House doesn't really know what he's talking about, seems to have no area of expertise, and is predisposed to believe anything anti-Trump (to be fair, 75% of which is true). Surprised he hasn't been posting Loise Mensch tweets.

Correct. It was during his time in the us attorneys office that multiple staffers alleged and confirmed his casual and repeated use of the word ******

This Putin move is interesting. We pushed out like 75 "diplomats" and seized essentially spy compounds and he retaliates with like 750. Wonder how Trump will find a way to back down, particularly in light of the new sanctions bill.

Also, interesting that Trump is apparently mad at Mattis because he "talks down" to him. Literally no one could be honest to Trump without talking down to him, but Trump's largely insulated himself from outside scrutiny throughout his life.

Don't really like the interviewer of the Longform podcast, as he asks a lot of dumb and not many smart questions, but the recent interview with Maggie Haberman was interesting for her level of trump insight and because she was literally working during the interview, like confirming sources and filing a story. She seemed pretty tired from having to be on the ball 24/7. https://play.google.com/music/m/Dur5...erman-Longform

I wonder when the US is going to more forcefully go after offshore banking/tax havens. The EU has talked about this now and then and does some things, but I'd like to see some protracted and coordinated action. Won't be under Trump, however.

absolutely. Jeff Sessions has been a racist throughout his professional life. the top lawyer in the land is a racist. all established fact.

i just got done reading this book:

The Lynching - The Epic Courtroom Battle That Brought Down the Klan

Jeff Sessions makes a brief appearance as his racist self.

from what has been reported, Putin chose the 755 number as this would create an equal number of U.S. personnel in Russia as Russia has in the U.S. the number was not chosen at random.

a true U.S. prez/leader at this time, would let Russia twist in the wind. too much focus/attention on them. that is what Putin wants and helps strengthen his position domestically.

our foreign policy should be primarily focusing on two nations at the moment: China and North Korea.

Saying that Kelly is going to change things is like saying " this is when Trump became President". Former General or not, being an active participant in this administration is complicity in everything Trump does. It's not like he's gong to have Trump doing push ups till he starts behaving.

The thing is that the US would obviously have a lot more because it's a much larger country and government with much more focus on international affairs and diplomacy. Russia is a petrostate with 40% of the population of the US and a smaller economy than California.

The only things that makes Russia look big and important are nukes and an inclination to bully its neighbors and cut deals with the worst governments in the world on the regular. If it wanted, the US and EU could put the squeeze on Russia harder than they have.

Kelly probably got a lot of concessions from Trump, like that he'll run the show in the WH. Remains to be seen if Trump honors his end of the deal. I'm not even sure there's a situation where Trump has kept his word to his own detriment.

I have tried to learn more from the author screamingasian brought up yesterday, Timothy Snyder. He has lived alot in eastern europe to study these things. Im actually getting more worried that democracy is slipping away now in the US. I always thought trump was too confused and unfocused to have any plan or such to take over, but it seems like thats not how these guys actually do it. Its just that they come into office and start pushing against institutions not necessarily with a plan in mind, and this way gaining more and more space together with the removal of the belief that there exists facts. When there is no facts or common understanding there is no trust and democracy fails without trust, this is at the center of other faschist takeovers. There is indeed a number of alarming similarities that he explains that you might want to have a look at. I just posted the video from vox that shows how the republicans first embraced the climate change and now denies it, i think that would show that contesting or denying facts had a turning point before this election.

His book at amazon is a manual that tells you whats going on and what you can do.

On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century

He says there is a limited time period where activism is possible, i think i would concider that if i lived in the US now.

Any correlation between Trump's twitter rants and reality are purely coincidental.
I don't really think this is possible.

I haven't been following Our House's posts, but what's the problem? Where's the crackpot conspiracy? I'll certainly take a shot at defending him. He seems pretty solid and now there are more calls against him than there were for PuppyWhatever2.

This is weird, because I'm pretty sure Trump said it was imploding which seems like exactly the opposite.

Kelly is a god damned war criminal who subverted (not cool supposedly for a general) Obama's efforts to close a big torture facility.

His brilliance on FP runs along the lines of:

A simple, good read. Almost like an oversized pamphlet. Takes less than 90 minutes to get through.

I'd also like to recommend a book I just started:

Destined for War - Can America and China Escape Thucydide's Trap
