just connect it to itunes, the click the the iphone under devices, and in summary section, click update

DF, Sylar, posting jailbreak-related stuff is A-OK in this thread as long as we're not talking about pirated/cracked apps. I suppose jailbroken tethering is against AT&T's TOS, but until they start offering their own tethering service I'm saying that's fine as well. We'll cross the bridge of what happens at that point when we get to it.

Open the link in safari on your iPhone, Go to mobile configs, choose AT&T, the .ipcc file will download and install (This can be removed to undo all these changes). You now have Tethering.

nothing ever works right

i got a popup saying itunes couldnt contact the store, timed out, check my network connection, etc.

my internet is fine so i don't understand why it would say that =\

edit: i must have the update since i can txt sideways

I won't be updating til I get home from work but if I don't have a jailbroken iphone will I need to backup all my apps/contacts/pictures before updating to 3.0?

i simply did restore, then restore from backup and got all my email accounts and contacts and texts back. it's like a clean iphone, like it's never been jailbroken.

It took me forever to get it activated, probably half an hour and a dozen tries. Similar problems being reported on MacRumors, it's a server load thing I'm sure. It finally worked and is now restoring from backup.

Yeah, if you have any patience (unlike me) waiting is a better move. My phone was bricked for like half an hour, seems like any risk of being phone-less for that time or longer is too much.

once my phone was done installing (3g), and it said waiting to activate, it only took a few minutes for me and i was all good to go

the entire process took me approx 30 min

All my apps are gone after updating. Normal non jailbroken phone. Tried synching already. My contacts are still there as well as my iTunes library.

Thoughts?

edit: Shazam is still on there. But nothing else thats not standard.
