seems simple enough to me but im dumb
I ask because I looked into doing this last week when I lost my phone. The guy told me I would not be able to get the subsidezed price the 3GS at the end of this week. I was gong to pay the $400 and return that one but was told I would only get store credit for returning the 3G.

Hopefully you don't get stuck paying $400 for the new one on Friday.

If it is within the first 30 days I think you can break your contract for free? In which case, you can get a new 2 year contract at subsidized price.

yes, i am sorry, forgot to mention the fact that it would be need to be done within the 30 day window that nustar mentioned

I can't just download the update with a jailbroroken iphone?
Yo!!

MMS is not in the new update. It will be released later this year. You can just download the update with a Jailbroken Phone.

It will wreck your jailbreak, and potentially make it do you can never jailbreak again, but you start your post with Yo, so I don't feel bad if you do this.

Could someone plz explain to me what it means to have your phone "jailbroken?" Thanks in advance.

Man I can't wait to get my iphone now as it will replace my ipod as my in-car stereo source. I can't use my 1g cuz of the stupid ****ing headphone jack design(wtf were you guys thinking jesus) so I've just been using my regular ipod.

Flash memory >>>>>>>>>>>>> hard drives. god changing songs takes too long on a regular ipod. Flash memory, with the faster processor of the 3gs should make this a pretty nice little upgrade.

Plus I'll no longer be leaving my ipod in my truck since it'll be with me seeing as how it doubles as my phone.

horay!

Sounds pretty sweet, I may have to get one of these. Does one have to sign a two year contract with AT&T in order to purchase the new iPhone?

yes, it's been that way with every phone since probably 1993

I've had this problem. I fixed it by uninstalling something and then reinstalling it.

My iPhone left Shenzhen, China yesterday. It's now in HK. It says it will be delivered the 18th. Holler?

I someone was to sell me a jailbroked iPhone, could I activate it or will they not allow it? Just wondering because I just found a used phone that's in really good condition but it's jailbroken and has like sega genesis games and stuff on it. Will be using Rogers Canada as a provider.
06-16-2009 , 04:10 PM
Acually wait, I don't need to bring it to them to activate it right? I just buy anew sim card from them and pop it in?

restore and rebreak, so insanely easy now. You noobies have no idea how good you have it.

I asked on another forum and they said I don't need to bring the phone in to them to get it activated, and I can just buy a new SIM card and pop it in.

Confirm with them that the phone is software sim-unlocked, not just jailbroken.

If so, you are good to go.

If it's not, then can I do it myself?

How big of a difference is there between the 3g and the 1st gen? Just internet speeds and slightly brighter screen?
06-16-2009 , 07:36 PM
Should I clear some more space on my iPhone for 3.0? I generally keep it very full with music and apps and right now only have 15mb free or so.
06-16-2009 , 07:41 PM
Doubt you are going to be doing an update with 15mb free but it isn't like it will take long to free it up and retry the update after it fails.
06-16-2009 , 08:09 PM
*Easy/stupid question alert*

If my phone is jailbroken (but not unlocked), can I just dl the new update when it hits or do I have to restore it before I download the update? I used to know the answer but I forget.

Dumb question part deux: Will using apt backup and restoring jailbreak settings work in 3.0 like it did for the other updates? Or will I have to basically start from scratch?
