How much does a gun cost?

Do you need a licence to own one?

Do you have to keep them in a secure location in the house?

Are you allowed to have one in your car?

Can y'all carry guns around all day like Yosemite Sam?

Couple hundred to thousands.

Most states just have a waiting period to buy one, my state unfortunately requires a license.
Do you have to keep them in a secure location in the house?
No, but you should if you have kids or frequent visitors.
Are you allowed to have one in your car?
Usually yes, but unloaded in most states

Some states allow concealed carry.
I hate that my state makes you apply for a license. Someone did a freedom of information request to release all the gun owners names. What would this achieve? A shopping list for thieves. Thank god my card was expired, but the attorney general blocked it for now anyway.

a decent gun can be had for around $400 . you can get them cheaper , but a cheap gun is really not a good idea .

Do you need a licence to own one?

No , although almost all states have different gun laws .

Do you have to keep them in a secure location in the house?

No , but that is a bad idea to have an unsecured firearm anywhere , thats how accidents happen .

Are you allowed to have one in your car?

If you have a concealed carry permit , you can have it on you in a holster in your car , otherwise the gun and ammo has to be in seperate locations and locked up . ie Ammo in glove box , gun in trunk

Can y'all carry guns around all day like Yosemite Sam?
If you have a concealed carry permit then yes . again all states are different . I heard in arizona , no one needs a permit anymore and anyone who can legaly own a gun can openly carry one .

Yeah , that would suck . But if they used a knife would you have the same feelings about knives ? ( not starting a debate I promise , just curious what you think )

shooting is alot of fun and competitive amongst friends . That and for home defense . Those are my reasons for owning guns . i live out in the country and work nights , so the wife wanted a gun . Also , shooting is a family tradition of mine . My grandpa taught me gun safety and how to shoot and my dad has taught my son the same things . I guess for us at least it's more of a family activity .

I don't want to get into a discussion about the pros and cons of guns and gun laws, but I do find it interesting that the question was about carrying guns like this ...

... and the answers were about concealed carry laws ... more like this ...

I'm just intrigued (as the lads say - this probably isn't a good place to debate the pros and cons) because gun ownership is just so alien to me. We're more into the ol' fertilizer truck bombs over here - I jk.

I have to say that I wouldn't mind having a go off shooting one and just knowing what it felt like to play Russian roulette... I mean... something completely not mad.

Jees - just debate the pros and cons guize!

People with guns usually win them debates though because they end point it at your face the violent nutters.

How about if everyone had the right to carry a concealed thermo-nuclear device?

Nice guns. I would own one but regulations are very strict here for firearms. We have to go through education program, plus permits, plus extra permits+education if it's a non hunting/work. You also have to fork out the cash for both not to mention paying for permit/registration renewal. I think it's better than in UK though since I don't even think they have recourse to own them.

Before the gun registry my father owned a 12 gauge mossberg shotgun. My mom was really against firearms so she used to hide it all the time. He would always eventually find it except once she hide it and couldn't remember where it was. We finally found it a couple of years later rusted to the basement wall behind the furnace

That's pretty much the best anti-gun argument though. I know Americans can't see it but they have a collective logic malfunction when it comes to gun ownership.

And of course the LC/NC thread is suitable for an inflammatory debate. That's why it is here.
05-31-2011 , 01:36 PM
AE and JJ are among the misinformed I feel. Responsible gun owners NEVER point a gun at anyone, loaded or unloaded, EVER. We are there to Protect the people from the violent nuts that think they are some badass mofos when they are armed.
The people are much safer when we are allowed to legally own guns, because if they are regulated, criminals will get them anyway. At least giving the people an option gives us a chance.

Awesome cake ice.
