Seriously, I want an answer, I really cannot figure why.
Because Phil Ivey is not a drag on TV poker. He earned the right of such refusal. If you're bad TV like Jesus, you should really be much more sensitive to not making yourself an even bigger bad TV. Jesus also made the mistake of making an excuse of not having analyzed the strategy for playing 2-7 game, which also makes you sound like an oh-so-fun guy to have at the table.

as he 4 bets 33 in a three way pot and gets 2 folds.

Chris may very well have thought about it in the time it took him to say no and figured out that it would work against him. For instance, his plan may be to open up some in this cash game and in that instance the 72 game might get him called more.

Ivey not wanting to play the 72 game is probably because it makes the other players tougher against him. Some people don't want their opponents range to be wider against them, especially if they are playing against people that play somewhat straight forward.

I noticed when they first started playing 72 on HSP, Antonio took a different approach than the other players, often limping or playing it for cheap and then trying to take a small pot away or actually make the best hand. I assume he thinks that he has a better approach than the others and that could be the reason he always pushes for it so hard because he isn't going to be the one going broke with it.

Maybe when Chris wanted it for 200 instead of 500 because he figured the others would try to win with it with the same veracity as when it was 500 and therefore overvalue the reward for bluffing with it.

I'm going to give Ferguson the benefit of the doubt and say he wasn't just being cheap.

Very valid points. The average TV viewer is just going to view Jesus as an uber tightwad w/o respect to his reasons.

Is there any chance of a 100k pot this week? We come off one of the great hands in recent history on an insane bluff where durrrr puts in 200+k on a river bluff...to this? Are they going to at least kick up the blinds this week?

7-2 appeared in like four hands in the first episode, including one where Adams raised with it in the cutoff and Todd 3-bet him with aces. Thanks a lot, Debbie Downer-Ferguson.

I usually love watching any kind of poker but this was just a horrible episode. The lineup is one of the worst lineups i have ever seen. Not sure why they have Jesus playing in there anyway... he is a pretty good player but horrible for TV, he doesnt say anything, takes forever to act and too cheap to play 2-7. I was actually hoping he would stack off against Adam's nuts.

Chris was very nitty but seriously Matusow was extremely annoying mentioning this every 10 seconds in the show it made the show about unbearable to watch.

The first episode was beyond bearable to watch. 100/200 Blinds.. Each player buying in for 50k?

That's not a cash game that's a joke.

The amazing part is the amount of time some of them took to act. I've never seen so many people go into the tank preflop for less than 5k.

I'm not sure about HSP but I thought that he rejected it on PAD because he said it was a waste of his time to think about it and they weren't playing it for high enough (as opposed to negotiating it down). He also had like a million other props going on if I am remembering it right so it wasn't like he was nitting. He is refusing the action because it is too little rather than too much. Totally different situation, imo.

I guess you never went into the tank pf when in a CG for less than 5k rite?
I mean wtf was that even supposed to mean? like 5k is nothing for them?
everybody on TV ain't as rich as PI brah

Regarding Ferguson refusing to play 7-2, I guess he thought that would make him look like the nittiest nit of the nits, and it did.
It only took him 2min to create that image and then managed to win a ocuple of nice pots pf using that very image. I'm pretty sure that alone was worth it for him

Yeah, what a joke. Pffft. I play for higher stales than that in my home game.

Seriously, I'll admit the episode was barely watchable, but it had nothing to do with the amount of money on the table.

everyone already thinks ferguson is a huge nit, so he would have almost certainly won those pots regardless.

if for no other reason, i think he should do it because he's fortunate enough to keep being invited on these tv shows (i will never understand why), and if he's not going to add anything to the entertainment value of those watching, he should at least not detract from it by being so nitty as to be the lone person out of 6 to refuse a little $500 incentive that will add to the game. it's like he thinks he's just entitled to be invited to these games because he won the ME once and wears a cowboy hat and has long hair. it doesn't even cross his mind that if he continues to be terrible television and boring as ****, he might actually start getting fewer of these opportunities and cost himself more money in the long run. frankly i really hope that happens

I have to admit I'm not watching this for the great poker being played, it's clear to anyone that watched the first episode that this is going to turn into a hilarious Hellmuth bash.

The preview for tonights epsiode was so lol.

PH "I can't check this, I'll bet 600 and hope he doesn't raise"

TB "Raise" then throws out a 5 pack.

PH looks abolsutely suicidal

Fergie is a b*tch. Ivey is king of the hill.

Like every other move in poker, it depends.

Had to turn this eps off. Please stop putting Fergie on these shows.

Stupid Adams flat calling with nut-flush. Do people realize that your opponent flops a flush a decent percentage of the time, and then the turn card will either be the 4th suit card or a board pairing about 40% of the time. What a terrible hand to slowplay.

what a god awful lineup...why do even televised cash w/o ivey, durrr, PA etc. this one is probably the worst lineup ever for a cash game. at least leanne's tits saved the episode somewhat.
