They are just as viewable as they are on any monitor. It's the same clarity, just possibly different size.

A screenshot of a min table on a 30inch and a 20inch monitor is going to look the same size on your screen.

edit: oops. i typod meant to say I want the resolution of the dell 30'' in a smaller size, so 2560x1600. Does this exist yet? Sorry about the confusion
I could be wrong but I don't think there's any monitor in the market now that has 2560*1600 in less than 30inchers, except for the macbook pro with retina display.

A minimum table is always going to be dictated by pixels WxH.

If you take two monitors of different sizes running at native resolution, a minimum table will have the same pixel clarity on both monitors. The only difference would be how large or small the table looks. I believe my statement was accurate.

^sorry yah were saying the same thing, I meant they will have a different amount of pixels within the same iinch of screen real estate

i am using this computer i got a few years ago:

http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/asu...-34121960.html

there are a link to the specs. i'm not good with computers so i need help before i possibly try to expand it.

1.) i want to add an SSD. is an SSD going to work in my machine? assuming just poker DB what size do I want? can someone link me to a good one on newegg?

my computer doesnt have a eSATA ports. is that a requirement for an SSD, or only SATA?

im not very sure but i think you need SATA2 or 3 to run SSD? also if you're just gonna run poker db on the SSD (assuming u are running os on different drive?), 128gb would be more than enough. if you wanna run both os and poker db on it, get like 256.

Hello, plz help.

I managed to break one of the hinges on the screen of my current laptop but had been thinking about replacing it anyway since it was just a std pretty cheap model that is not esp good for playing poker on while im travelling.

The main thing I want to get is a better screen but here's my wishlist:
- high def screen
- ssd
- ethernet port
- powerful enough. mostly gonna be playing lotsa tables + hem2/ playing+hem2+watching video
-backlit keyboard would be nice
- pref. no operating system, since im just gonna install win 7 on whatever i get but it seems like im gonna have to waste money on one.

I am finding it hard to find good options (or even a (uk) website to buy from w a good range of laptops w high res screens) any recommendations?
Was considering getting a retina display mac and just installing windows on it but they are £1800 min which seems absurdly expensive.

Currently the best i can find seems to be this sony vaio, I am definitely open to other options tho

SVS1513C5E £ 1,179.00

Intel® CoreTM i5-3230M, 2.6GHz << i7 +£100, worth it/necessary?
Windows 8
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 640M LE
128 GB SATA Flash SSD
6 GB 1333 MHz DDR3L-SDRAM << 4/8/12gb also available, dunno which is best
DVD disc drive
39.5cm (15.5") LED 1920 x 1080 +webcam << this seems to be the best non-mac resolution i can get
No Wireless WAN << dont really understand what this is, it costs £80 to get it
Standard battery

tyvm if you can help

to people in this thread posting about a good laptop/netbook suggestion:

again i highly recommend my VIZIO Ultrabook Thin & Light....

its thin and light, portable, extremely well built/solid, great screens, and definitely affordable.
it may not be as gimmicky or cool as some of the more popular or newer laptops/tablets etc but it comes with an amazing screen(full HD) and great hardware, especially for the price.

FYI, these are directly comparable with the MacBook Pros and come in at half the price or less....you can find them even cheaper if you pick up a 1st gen model that come with Windows 7 instead of the new windows 8.

highly recommend them. amazing screen.

My name is coxquin, and I'm a huge Apple fish. Please talk down from buying the 15.4'' Retina MBP. I'm in Thailand and found one new with these specs for $2,200 USD. Electronics are more expensive here, its well over $1,100 cheaper than if I were to buy this at the Apple store here:
  • 2.6 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
  • Upgraded to 16 GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
  • 512 GB Flash Storage
  • Two Thunderbolt ports
  • Two USB 3 ports
  • SDXC card slot
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1 GB of memory
  • 15.4-inch Retina Display

I have tested it with bootcamp running max resolution so things look tiny and quite frankly love it. It looks totally fine on my eyes to me (obv didn't get to test it for grinding for hours however).

I had a 30'' but the most annoying part was constantly having to glance around. I would be very surprised if I was unable to 8-10 table comfortable on this machine alone thus eliminating the need for a monitor.

It's also sexy and baller as ****, you can't deny Apple is also the industry leader in industrial design and I don't mind paying a little extra for this + the brand. I also surplussing really like Mountain Lion and even run it now in VM Ware, but it is laggy and super clumsy on my current pos computer.

It's a wholesale deal so I am waiting until there is space for my order to slip through. My plan is to wait and see if the new Apple cinema displays come out first and are smaller than 30'' but with min 2560x1600...if so then I will buy a normal laptop and use that screen tor poker tables.

Talk me out of this plan 2p2, because I feel you in general Apple gets a lot of (understandable U guess) hate.

sure, this is the model I got, the CT15-A1:

http://store.vizio.com/ct15a1.html

however it appears to have been "discontinued" already in favor of an *identical* model(called the CT15-A2) shipping with some upgraded software drivers and Windows 8 instead of win7(which is probably better for those purchasing a laptop for poker-heavy use).

its sleek and extremely well built...the thing is solid and not plastic the screen is the best feature....anti-glare full 1080HD display which is possibly the best screen on the market besides the new apple retina displays or whatever. does 1920x1080 resolution.
only con i can think of is the battery life which is about 4-6 hours depending on your settings, namely the screen brightness...however it charges very quick.

i cannot recommend it enough though.

I've bought some parts from www.novatech.co.uknovatech before and occasionally get emails from them with some really good value pre built rigs.
although its really not hard to build a desktop these days you could easily do it yourself reading the instruction manuals.

Do you guys know any other solutions (different brand 30'' that will fit with two Dell 2007FP in portrait mode) or a different kind of 20'' screen that DOES meet the U3011 design.

I hope to read your suggestions.

Thanks!
I use an HP ZR30w and it works quite well. Doesn't fit absolutely perfectly like the old Dell 30s but it's close enough (the HP 30 is like a couple mm bigger on each side and the corners are more rounded). Pics of my set up are here to see for yourself:
