About your mum (this is what you call maternal figures no?) she just wants what she believes is best for you. Most of us have stories of parents who didn't/don't understand or accept poker as a viable profession. Combating her attempts to steer your life by completing shutting her out is the wrong route imo. It's a natural reaction to prove you're independent. However, it is very unlikely that you will be able to come to any terms this way. If you make concessions and confide in her she will likely repay you with trust and distance.

A quick look at fpppro.com says 22%, I did the maths once like a year ago or w/e and I remember it being pretty similar. Yeah it'd be nice if stars reduces rake, but wouldn't they have done it by now
