Stones has a big weekend coming up, offering a nice alternative with a more affordable price range. $125 this Saturday with 30 minute levels and $10k guaranteed and $225 this Sunday with 40 minute levels and $20k guaranteed! That is if you can take a break from your massage chair

Hey Guys,

I'm going to be in Sacramento with the wife on a work trip in a couple months - going to have at least 1 day to kill. What's my best option for central Sacramento? Doubt I'll be able to get up to Stones or Thunder Valley.

Likely looking at Limelight, Royal, or Capitol, unless there's something else I'm not seeing.

I play up to 2/5 NL, but noticed Royale has a $400 buy in 1/2 game which is always fun. Also interested in tournies up to $200 buy in.

Just wondering what's my best bet for say a Thursday 9-5 session. Strictly daytime play so sketch shouldn't be an issue... (?)

going to do some more back reading since I'm sure it's been discussed at length, but things do change.

cheers.

Yeah if you can make it to Stones just play there. Otherwise Capitol if transportation is an issue and you're stuck downtown.

No limit on a Thursday between 9am and 5pm will be problematic in Sactown.

Capitol should have a 1-3 no limit game going by noon (after the 10am tournament players bust out). 2-5 is NOT likely to go on a weekday afternoon.

That would be your only option if you are stuck in Sactown and you are unable to go to Stones in Citrus Heights.

In general, the Sactown poker market works like this:

Capitol - mostly a LIMIT card house with Limit Omaha Hi-Lo (4-8, 8-16 on Mondays, 6-12 on Wednesdays) being its specialty. Also available: 1-3 and 2-5 no limit (generally after 12 noon), 4-8 and 8-16 Limit Hold'em.

Royale - a handful of 1-2 no limit games at night, after the props get off work at 5pm. One 4-8 Limit Omaha game during the day, mostly played by props

Limelight - no limit games in the evening (fed by bustouts from 6:30pm tournament on Mondays-Thursdays)

Stones - primarily a no limit card room. 1-2, 1-3, and 2-5 no limit being fed by the bustouts from the daily 10am tourney.

Thunder - mostly a Friday/Saturday casino. Not much cash game traffic on weekdays other than a handful of regulars.

I was just wondering if anyone here, knows of any players in the Sacramento area who do staking/coaching deals. I play mainly at TV, and The Stones, mostly 1/3 but looking to move up to 2/5, just slightly under rolled though. Feel free to PM if you know anyone, would be happy to meet at one of the card rooms some time.

Anyone know how Andrew Barber is doing at the HPT? He made it to Day 2 with a healthy chip stack, but TV's blog is pretty pathetic for coverage of one of their biggest events of the damn year!

Andrew...hope you're running well and made the money. If so, I hope you win it...good luck man.

Capitol will have a 2/5 game pretty much every afternoon during the week. Starts between like 12-2 every day for the most part.

Congrats to Andrew Barber for his 45th place in the HPT earning a min-cash for his efforts. I was hoping you'd make a deeper run, but at least you have some cash to show for your effort.

What I love was the calling station who knocked me out in Day 1B (the guy would literally call with ATC and was a luckbox according to the people who played with him all day) didn't even cash and was knocked out pretty early today after starting at the chip leader. Glad to see that his luck ran out. He hit a 15% river card on me that would have doubled me up to nearly 30 big blinds with 3 levels to go on Friday...ahh, what could have been Better luck next time the HPT is in town to all the local players.

Thanks Steve!

Anyone bored Monday after 1pm, come up to TVC and watch the HPT broadcast live as a Sacramento player makes these Bay Area players wish they never drove up here.

Yep that's me, I know who you are because of your glamour shot, I would have introduced myself if not for the 2p2 secrecy policy.

Congrats on the third place man...tough beat to both get top pair. Next time we see each other, let's introduce! (Didn't know about the secrecy policy...is there a handshake too???)!

My hat's off to you on a great run. Must have been a blast! I would have been on the rail for you, but had some work commitments yesterday that the only way I could have bailed on them is if I was in your position.

No, Capitol will have a 2/5 game for you. If you don't believe me check the Bravo app any day after 1pm during the week.
