Is late registration for the Saturday tourney open for 6 levels too even though it's half hour blinds? Aka over 3 hours?

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

I'm thinking about going to a Wednesday afternoon $120 tournament in late May. How many people usually join and how many usually cash? Also, how long do they usually last?

No bags period? Not even a quick search? Security must be on edge bc of the whole Boston marathon tragedy.

Pretty absurd. I take my bag everywhere with me. Not having it makes me want to not play there

Nope! I asked that. All I have in my bag is my iPad and beats. I pulled them out and showed the guy. He's like "idc go back to your car and lose the bag kid"
He could have been a tad bit nicer IMO.

You can take bags in now. I called ahead and they said it was okay. Brought my bag in and they searched it thoroughly and let me in.

Figures they would randomly change their policies twice in one day.

I learned the hard way today as well. He even cited the events of yesterday: "Sorry no bags." "This is a new policy right? I came in with it last week." "Yeah after Boston we can't take any chances."

It's smart for anywhere holding large crowds to take precaution following such events, just glad they compromised with a bag search.

Yes of course.. Even though I got there at 7am and there was a total of 20 people there, pretty sure I could find a bigger crowd somewhere else if I were a "bad guy" lol.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

Ok I got a post removed last for using an employee's name. When I ask for to start a 10-10 must move and I say it will go and fill, please listen that is your job as a floor person in the high limit area.

Also Parx poker room has been complicit in allowing another player to steal 2k from me 2 months ago.

Playing 10-10 a player lost a hand had lost a huge pot the hand before and had one 1k in chips on the table. He proceed to play 2k behind which the dealer announced multiple times to the table. He handed 2k to a chip-runner who went to the cage to get chips. The next hand was dealt and we get all-in for 3k each and my TT holds against AK. The player refuses to pay. I feel I am owed the money since the dealer who works at Parx is complicit and this is not just an agreement between the players.

I was in discussion with management to come a reasonable restitution other than just giving me 2k, which would would be 2k in free time and have yet to hear a response. Their silence is incredibly disappointing and my subsequent play at Parx has dropped considerably.

Who are you to decide if the game will go. All the floor personal is good at what they do and know better then you. Also shame on you for not knowing the rules and at parxs you cannot play from behind. Good luck with 2k worth of free time

I'm here now & there are a few players around me with bags. They said they had to be searched though.

I would assume he is saying that he has at least a few people willing to start it and keep it going for awhile. And in terms of the not playing from behind, yeah it is obv a good thing to know the rules, however the dealer obviously made the situation a lot worse by allowing the player to play behind and announcing that the player was playing behind.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

Of course, but if the dealer had told them they couldn't play behind, the table would have erupted in people complaining that of course they can, they do it all the time, why don't you just let us run the game, etc etc.

Can't have it both ways. If you want the dealers (and floor) to back off and let you skirt the rules for your own convenience, then you gotta pay the piper when it causes you to get burned.

I guess it would have been nice for Parx to 86 this guy at least (unless and until he pays the other player the money owed), since he clearly angled his way into saving the money. That's one thing it's completely in their power to do, for almost any reason they want. I don't know who the player is and whether he's ever been back, but it couldn't hurt, anyway. (Unless he's a fish that everyone wants back.)

As for starting games, it's hard to say without knowing all the details. First of all, the floors usually don't decide when a new game gets called, the shift manager does. Sometimes there aren't enough dealers, so it's a question of who gets a new game and when, and a shorthanded game is rarely going to win that fight. And even when there are enough dealers, they sometimes won't start a game if they believe it's going to break soon thereafter for some reason.

Bottom line, they surely want to take customer opinion into account, but they will not (and should not) substitute your judgment for their own. Especially when there are probably 400 people in the room, each with their own ideas of what the best thing to do with a free dealer and table is.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

I haven't played at Parx in a bit but used to play 10/10 two or three nights a week and it was very common for people to play behind. A floor person or chip runner would often run to the cage and grab chips while the player was playing behind. It didn't seem like it was against the rules to be playing behind, especially when I've seen floor people say player x is $x behind while they run to the cage to grab a reload for them.

The "play from behind" story is confirmed from multiple sources. Consensus is that it happened exactly as told. Pretty scummy move by the angle shooter, and a massive screw up by Parx to allow dealers to announce action that they cannot legally enforce.

If it were me, I'd take it to the PGCB.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

Responding to freeholds situations:

The $2k from playing from behind thing sucked but I'm surprised it was still being looked into. Be nice for the casino to pay but I'd be shocked. Can't see the player paying either at this point and I don't think there will be any particular push to get that player 86'd, after all, it is poker and everybody is going to look out for their own best interest.

Regarding a must move being called, if a player like freehold guarentees the game will run I would trust that way more then any floor person trying the figure if the game would run. I'm not belittling the parx floormen at all, they do a fine job, but the player will know better. Often times when trying to start a 10/10 I can tell just by who is there or on the list whether or not the game will run way better then the floor. Although often we see things the same way when deciding to call the game or not.

Is it possible to take someone to small claims court for something like that? I have no idea about this stuff but the fact that the bet took place in a legal game makes me think it's worth looking into.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

http://gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov/?p=113

"Patrons that have a complaint or a dispute with a licensed gaming entity in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania may request BIE to investigate such complaint or dispute. All patron complaints and disputes are taken very seriously by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Each complaint is assigned a case number and an investigator for immediate investigation."

I'm no lawyer, but my guess is that if a dealer or floor makes a ruling outside the state law guidelines (i.e. declaring chips to be in play that legally were not) and it winds up costing you money, and you have witnesses and documentation to attest to that, you have a pretty compelling case.

30 day time limit for complaints.

It's been past 30 days I believe and villain in this hand is probably one of the last people in the city you would want to bring to small claims court.
