The advertising for this mini series is awful. I just found out about it

Anyhoo... play well, you lucky sonofaguns.
Nothing is going to change here unless we vote in some different people. Actually, thats not totally true. I'm sure we can count on plenty of change, gas tax hike, more tolls, sales tax hike, and of course, raises for all the people who are in charge of the mess

Looks like Two Trees is remodeling now. Just saw renovated rooms for next week. Anyone been in a renovated room there?

Any plo going tonight? I'll be there at 7:30 P.M. and I usually order hennessy and coke's non-stop all night and liven the game up a bit.

Didn't they stop serving hennessy last year?

Come to think of it, the last time I was down at Foxwoods I was ordering jack and cokes. That may be why. Nonetheless, plo time!

I'm surprised they're renovating Two Trees, as they just did so a few years ago.

Yes, but if you put it into coke, does it actually matter?
Still wish they had brand-name scotch, though.

I'm offended by the idea that you'd ruin perfectly good Hennessy by adding coke to it.

Its the same remodeling phase... its been going on for quite a while now. I talked to the girl at the front desk the other day she said that approx 1/2 to 2/3 of the rooms have been done. Quality takes time I guess LOL

I guess they've just decided to start charging more for the renovated ones like they did at Pequot.

I just noticed the same thing myself. Its unreal that their business is way off yet they decide to charge more for a two trees room just because they changed the decorations in said room? (Ive stayed in the "renovated" room and its not that much different) I firmly believe that the people in casino management making the decisions are about as incompetent as it gets. Where do they get these people from? Business is slow, you should charge LESS for a non renovated room NOT more for a redecorated room and you might actually get more people to come to the casino which is the name of the game!!!

But it's not.

Foxwoods has to redefine itself as more of a resort, and less of a casino. The glory days of it's casinos are over. Soon there will be casinos all over.

Every part of the operation has to make money: the hotels, the restaurants and retail outlets, the spa and salon, ... Everything.

I'm not sure if you know how the economics of a casino works... while they are indeed trying to invent new things to do, the bottom line is that the meat and potatoes of ANY casinos lively hood is and always will be gambling revenues. Grabbing an extra $20 for a two trees room from someone who is going to go there and buy a Hard Rock t-shirt and a pair of Gap jeans at the new outlet mall instead of gambling is not going to make Foxwoods profitable. The truth is they are better off to give that room away for free or at a discounted rate to someone who is going to come waste $500 or more on slots, roulette, or blackjack... this is the exact reason why casinos have been giving away free or discounted rooms since the inception of gambling... because it makes more business sense to give the room to a gambler than a tourist. I get it they are trying new things to get business there with the state of the economy and the impending competition from Mass and NY but if they are planning on making it profitable as a resort destination as you seem to imply then they might as well close the doors now... gambling is and always will be their bread and butter, NOT squeezing people for an extra $20 for a hotel room, or getting them to buy a Foxwoods logo sweatshirt, or purchasing an admission ticket to the indian museum... they need to make it from gambling revenues or they will not make it. All of the offerings there are there for one reason only... to get people to come there more often and to gamble more money, they are not there to be a giant profit center that will push the property over the top. The bottom line is that gamblers make the casino money not leaf peepers, pool loungers, or outlet shoppers. So I hope you see that your theory that ALL parts of the operation need to be profitable to make the casino thrive is indeed incorrect.... All those other parts of the operation are there to support and increase ONE thing... gambling revenues!!! If your theory is correct that the "glory days" of casinos are over then Id have to say that Foxwoods is doomed if they plan on becoming a resort in the middle of the Connecticut forest that people will drive 2-3 hours from Boston or NYC to eat a Hard Rock burger and do a little outlet shopping instead of gambling. They should be concentrating on how to entice more gamblers to visit more often, instead of getting cheap with comps and raising hotel rates because they hung a few new pictures and threw down a new coat of paint in Two Trees. Tourists dont pay the bills there gamblers do... they should be making every attempt possible to get more degenerates there more often and build a stronger gambling customer base before competition increases in the next few years. I guess the moral of the story is that it appears that Foxwoods management has subscribed to the theory of being penny wise and pound foolish lately.

ahhh yes how could I forget the golden goose that is the buffet!!! Figuring in the profit from the sale of barf bags for customers once they leave the buffet makes the whole place profitable again or maybe Foxwoods could team up with a local coronary doctor and get a referral fee for every buffet customer that requires triple bypass surgery... I guess the revenue streams are endless

nah - profit literally goes down the drain with the cost of repeated toilet flushes and lost table time.

perhaps the model is to make it a destination place for a family/couple/group so some can shop water park golf while others donk millions on games
foxwoods is convenient as hell for me and spreads the more games than any other room save borgata
free rooms like it when i get them but not the main attraction for me
the variety of games spread is

Lol. I did not feel like reading the rest of that wall because obviously your not up to date on the casino industry.

You do realize that all across the country perks are decreasing in the casino industry. Some of the most profitable casinos in the country are rather tight with rooms and other rewards. This is not the 80's anymore.

Without getting to much into it I will just say my points are from actually being in the industry, they are not guesses or random thought and believe your statement claiming that the most profitable casinos are also the tightest with comps to be absolut hooey. Do you have actual facts to back your statement or is it just something you felt cool saying? BTW: I was in grade school in the 80's so I'm not qualified to comment on the state of the industry then.
