I must admit I really miss the old commercials with the wonder of it all song... That s**t was catchy!

And I agree with Lattimer, pretty nice job from the marketing department.
The new commercial is fine, but the slogan "anything but ordinary"? What does that mean? Did anybody think a massive casino in the middle of rural CT would be ordinary? I thought "wonder of it all" was a good, established slogan that people associated with Foxwoods, even if the adjoining ads were pretty cheesy.

Hahahahahaha. I'm not technologically advanced enough to operate a scooter.

I just read that article. Obv, for personal reasons, I hate the decline of the comps but as far as the rest of what he has to say, I've been saying the same thing for close to 4 years. They do need better and different restaurants. They do need to update all of the decor that was already passe when the casino was built in 1992. They do need better shops.
Fascinating read.

they don't report you to the IRS if you have cashed for under $5001 but obviously the IRS can find out anything if they want to

I was under the impression it was $5,000 PROFIT. So if the tournament is $100, you would have to cash for $5,100. Is this wrong???

Great article for anyone growing up around Foxwoods. The guy in charge now seems to be a turnover specialist with some drive and experience. He also sees the current problems and what needs to be addressed.
Foxwoods also got really hosed expanding within a year of everything going busto and now carry some ridiculous debt of 2.3 billion.

One of the more interesting points in the article was the fact that that tribe was basically down to 1 member when some small-town political wizard/crazy man filed all the right paperwork in a perfect storm.

Conversely, bawww poor casino, boo ****ing hoo.

If it's the only Ray I can think of, second shift, short, dark hair, dealt sometimes but mostly floored. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!, that's too bad as he was a great guy and was great on getting a game started.

And he was one of the PLO friendly floors who would get us a table

He was one of the great, friendly employees in the poker room

Beard, shortish. Not that old. He died in his sleep, which is surprising considering that usually only old people die that way

My thoughts exactly, was very friendly to the plo crowd.

More important he was really a good guy, knew players by name, always had a smile or a story. Very sad.

I had a friend who died that way at 24. Pretty sad way to go
If im not wrong he's the only Ray on day shift who floored mostly and occasionally dealt.

Ray Osso was his name for anyone who knew him and looked up close at his name tag.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mods: Not sure about having his last name up was something I could or could not do, please edit if needed.

For the record this is one of those exceptions where posting his name is ok, so long as nobody bad-mouths him (though it doesn't sound like anybody has a reason to).

I never really interacted with him but I know who he was. A real shame for sure.

When I arrived today there were 4 2/5 games running with a must move. They opened a 5th table and went with no must moves. Within 30 minutes, 3 of the 2/5 tables are short. Protect the games! When asked why no must move the floor said "we don't do must moves on Fridays". This policy is garbage.

2/4 should not be apart of the bad beat jackpot. IMO limit games should be excluded. Especially 2/4, they see just about every river. No ones folding a gutshot str8 flush draw on the turn with the board paired in limit, as opposed to no limit where the action can force a hand to fold. Does anyone agree? Those games have an edge when it comes to hitting it. And 2/5 players need a re-vote to be included. Bored havin a smoke thought I'd start some s**t

Disagree on both counts.
Roughly speaking, the odds of a limit table hitting a BBJ (assuming all 10 hands are played to river, every deal) are only (maybe) 10-20% better than at a NL table where hands are played more "normally" (if that's even true of 1/2). Given the rake at 2/4, those players need all the help they can get.
As far as 2/5 is concerned, my impression is that most of the reg's would prefer not to be raked for the BBJ in order to participate. I view this as paying an extra $2-3/hr in rake, which is several thousand $/year, for an involuntary lottery ticket, on which the payoff is highly unlikely and will be taxed at about 30% (after the house takes out 5%) anyway. (If it's such a great idea, why not do it at 5/10NL and above? No way.)
Now, if we could get the PLO games included in the same BBJ, I'd vote for that in a second....
