You know how often I mutter things under my breath while making a tough decision in a 5k+ pot without even realizing it? And how easy it is for a dealer to hear it from a table's 1-seat?

So yes, I stand by my previous comment. I shouldn't have have to focus on not letting the wrong word slip while thinking about if I wish to call off my stack with a middling hand. That is semantic, unless I officially declare "I call" or "I fold".

jpsych - describe the woman youre talking about. did she have dirty blonde hair? ages 30-40s?

funny story that i prob mentioned before, i played last week and sat at 1/2 while waiting for a 2/5 seat. the "winner" of the bbj was sitting at my table, looking like a miserable dolt. nice to see that he's still withering away at 1/2.

also, i hate how it seems that people need to nitpick on wordplay and every little whisper. is this really the only way people can win?

alsoooooooooooooooooo, popcorn.gif at amylou posting on the forum.

If she has glasses, then we are talking about the same person.

The 'chips in front of cards' thing just won't do. Most players pull their cards in all the way to the pad. And your hands usually rest further towards the middle.

I just put a chip on my cards and keep one hand in front of my cards at all times, thankfully haven't had a dealer muck my cards at a B&M since. Also, you're better off not only not saying call in any manner during a hand unless you intend to call, no matter what the context. Don't even say a word that has anything that sounds like or includes call in it. I wouldn't even put it past the floor/dealer to make you call if you were facing an all-in and you said "I hope my wife isn't going to make me eat cauliflower again tonight".

Obviously, you've never read any of the 10,000 angle shooting/IWTSTH threads in this forum. The number of 2+2ers who believe this is a significant edge will astonish you.

I just wish that everyone would play fair and ethical poker. I know that it will never happen but a girl can dream, can't she?

Funny story. I played tonight(hit in the face with the deck, up 2 BIs in 2 hours, YAY) and I was stacking a call on the river. I was in the 6 seat and the stack was in front of my cards. Remembering all of this stupidity, I said,"I guess I have to call now since the chips are in front of me cards" and the dealer said, "no, they have to cross the bet line"

I was just kidding and was calling anyway, just found it funny

I guess I am on a wrong side here. But I have to agree in a scene that
good player should 100% time in auto pilot regime follow "best practices"
like protect his cards, watch how he moves his chips,....
It's should be in your blood. Like , you always should show turn signal and look around before changing lines on a highway.

That's how I spot regs. And that's how I know that they know that I am not
one of them.

But the game of poker already boring enough , so I hate to be tight and
watch my every move and word. I rather donate my chips to villain.

Agreed. They should have never printed "Bet Line" on the felt. Even so, it's amazing how many people completely ignore it, and have to be told every single time to push their bets up. I mean, how oblivious do you have to be to not realize that the dealer doesn't have 7-foot arms? So inconsiderate.

Not sure exactly what you mean here, but just because most people pull their cards all the way in, doesn't mean you should. After reading about all the ways people have shot angles or gotten screwed, and experiencing some of them myself, I've always been careful about how I act at the table. Never put chips in front of cards, always cap cards, keep the cards until the pot is shipped, avoid the action words like "call," "fold," etc.

If you (generic "you," not DMW specifically) choose not to do these things, you open yourself up to getting screwed. I'll feel bad for you the first time, but if you don't learn, and refuse to adjust your behavior to avoid these situations, I can't help you.

Funny related story: I was playing once and this guy at the other end of the table was being a real doucher the entire night, taking forever, acting all "pro," stupid poker jokes, etc. The dealer was clearly getting annoyed with him. In one hand, I went all in, and he starts tanking and staring me down. He takes a stack of chips and starts pump faking toward the pot while staring at me.

The dealer goes, "That's a call." He complains, "No, I was just trying to get a read!" (LOL) Dealer says, "Sorry, your chips were in front of your cards and you made a significant motion toward the pot" and makes him call. Of course I had him beat and he sucked out, but I appreciated the dealer clearly trying to shut him up and get me a bigger pot, hehe.

So, we have been keeping all of our chips at home but I am thinking of getting a box. Does anyone know details? Deposit? Are they kept at the cage in the poker room? Does it take longer than a minute to get access?

O0ch, gonna be down this weekend? Craftsteak is calling my name

last I knew it was a 50 deposit for the box. the door to the room is off to the right of the cage in the poker room.

Deposit is either $50 or $100. Just beyond the poker room cages is a door, they are located inside there. I've seen people fly in and out of there pretty quickly, like a minute or 2. I believe you need to access it at least once a month, or you lose it due to inactivity.

I shuffle my chips in front of the cards regularly and have never had to commit them to the pot. Actually I've only seen the "chips beyond cards" rule applied once, and it was at Foxwoods obv. If the rules change I guess I will.

Right now the risk of getting my cards swept in or exposed while I squeeze them far away is the greater one.

Does not compute.

I hear a lot more of these angle shooting issues from Foxwoods then Mohegan. Is it that much more prevalent at Foxwoods, or is it just because there is more chatter itt?

It depends on what limits you are looking at.

There are always tables to be found at 2/4 and 4/8.

Usually EITHER 5/10 OR 10/20 is running with 1-2 tables.

Boxes are 50 and the money is given back to you if you decide to close your box.

Limit runs 2-4, 4-8, 5-10, 10-20, and 20-40 all regularly at least 1 table.

I think this is more a function of room size, and games played. FW has many more, at least twice as many, games going at any given time. MS is a small room in comparision.

I am not a daily player at FW but have been there dozens of times, playing LHE and have never had a floor issue; this seems to be more a NL problem. ~Joe
