So that means we have no hope of organizing a 2p2 $8/$16 mix like the pre-COVID days?

I would say no.

That's too bad -- I'm about to move back to MA, would definitely play the pink chip mix again if it gets going!

I agree. They have more space in the area they are planning to open up. They could easily at 2 or 3 more in that area alone. What they should do is add more on the opposite side of the loft from where they are opening the 9 new tables.

Wish we had a definitive answer as to when they are opening the new area. I know it's soon, but would really like to know.

Heard from an employee the issue is more about getting enough new dealers than it is the space.

That presumes 1) you have the staff to run 90 more tables (they don’t) and 2) the demand to fill 90 more tables (also very unlikely over long run)

$8/$16 HORSE with a $10 rake sounds unplayable.

Going to be in Boston for work next week (and then for a week every 2-3 months going forward), looking forward to playing in what I believe will be exactly my 50th room.

Per floor, new area should open in about 2 weeks.

Sorry my tone of sarcasm was lost on you... Let me spell it out: What I really meant was that why would they NOT want to open more tables when they are filling the ones they have despite having the highest rake in New England and maybe the country.

I was kind of taking a "two birds with one stone" shot at the greed of management and the stupidity of the players who are lining up to play a game that borders on a felony (rape) taking $10 a pot (especially @ $1/$3) I guess you could call it "rake rape" as an official charge #Rakerape <--- new word

Newsflash: They are not opening new tables/extending days and hours to help out the suckers that are lined up to play they are doing it to to line their pockets all the while not giving a f*&k that they are making the games there nearly unbeatable.

Even management is shocked that the room is as crowded with fools as it is hence the expansion of hours and tables... funny before they were all worried about their precious garage spots for all the blue hairs to come light their social security checks on fire in the penny slots but now that they went from $6+$2 rake to $10+0 (soon to be $10+2 or $3) those old geezers smoking off their fixed incomes don't seem to matter as much anymore

I'm one of those fools who play at Encore. Yes the rake is terrible. That being said you seem to fail to realize that this is a business. They aren't here to make you happy. They're here to take your money.

If you are so offended by the way its run then ignore it and move on.

Q: When did I say it wasn't a business? A: Never

Q: when did I say I was offended? A: Never

Pro Tip: Reading comprehension is your friend

All That being said I think you have a keen sense for the obvious when you stated that a business is there to make money... I believe your phrasing was "to take our money".... Let me guess, Wharton School of Business? PS They're taking your money not mine... in business it's their right to charge what they want but it's my right to decide if I want to give them my business which I don't... would you be happy buying gas at the most expensive gas station in the country or your groceries at the store that charges $10 for a gallon of milk? You also said they're not there to make you happy?... The most successful and well run business's in this world take your money AND make you happy, it doesn't have to be one or the other as you suggested.

Not sure what made you butthurt... is it that I pointed out that it's not very cerebral to play there considering it might be the most expensive place in the country to play? No disrespect intended but it's just odd that people don't realize that the prospect of being a winning player long term is probably in the 1% range (FYI: most people that think they are winning or "break even" players are really losing players)... Fun fact: It will be even less than 1% when the current bonus money reserves dry up and it'll be $12 or $13 per hand, what will your opinion of the place be then?

What's frustrating about the whole thing is that for many reasons we went from having one of the best poker rooms in the country right in out backyard to one of the worst!!!

Sorry that I didn't get the memo saying if I didn't agree with your opinion on the place I should "ignore and move on"... almost sounds like you work there...

What's odd is that you don't realize that many players dgaf about that. Many play for entertainment, and most forms of entertainment cost money. You are looking through the lenses of a profit-driven poker player. You might want to take those glasses off once in a while.

Also, always classy to compare playing poker at a five star resort to sexual assault.

Two thumbs down MR ATM

Also your assessment is way way off but I’m gonna just enjoy playing cards in my backyard! New tables real soon, poker atlas stuff has been installed!

So I had a look at lists this week on PA, they seem to get pretty insane. Of course I'll check tomorrow when I get to town but is there even much chance of me getting a seat if I turn up at about 8pm on a weeknight?

If you're planning on showing up at 8pm on a weeknight, put your name on the list at 6:30-6:45. PokerAtlas lets you leave your name on the list for 90 minutes as long as you check-in during the 90 minute span at the casino.

From there it is (hopefully) no more than a 10-15 min wait

Not 100% sure I remember the exact date but I think the dealer said Oct 14th the new tables would be open. Approx 2 weeks into October regardless

Messaged Encore on twitter and they confirmed 9 new tables November 14 for a total of 24 tables.

Yep did this, was totally fine. Played 1-2 PLO for a couple hours and just like PLO everywhere these people dgaf about money. Made no hands and VPIPped maybe 4% but broke even and enjoyed myself at least.

Got a 1-3 session in and managed to lose $400 value owning myself when guy checked a flopped Q high flush with Q7dd on J 5 2 3 9 to me 3x in a 3b pot and I tripled my top set resulting in a "FML tank call" from him.

No hands of note other than that. Enjoyed the room.

Interesting...where did you see that? Is there that much demand from 4am-6am to warrant the change? Don't get me wrong.....its fine but I'd rather them open earlier than 10am rather than stay open 4-6am.

Its on Poker Atlas, cant speak about the demand but guessing on the waitlist amounts probably is demand.

Maybe they want to avoid staff coming in during rush hour.
