I think we need a new word: "Degentleman"

I get to claim coinage of the term.

@ AtariRob I agree with you about the Weds. game needing to be moved. The "host" is making calls frantically trying to get people to come yet he's gonna leave whenever he:
A- Is superstitious about the dealer, so cashes out and goes and plays pool
B- Is ahead, so he drums up a spur of the moment excuse to leave
C- Loses one buyin

I don't see the need to cater the game around him anymore and where he wants to play if everyone else doesn't have a problem trying to run it someplace else. And about the holdem game, Joker and I sat in it for about 45 min before the omaha game got started and the players are really bad as a rule.... but the same character leaving with almost $1100 last night and close to $1500 the last time I saw him there is just ridiculous considering that more than half the people that sit in the game buyin for $50-100, rather than $200.

I talked to Rob and if we have to make it PLO/PLO8 RxR at Cada's to get fresh blood, so be it. I won't be thrilled, but I'll deal with it. I'm playing in a private NLO8 game tonight out west of Ann Arbor tonight, so I'll see if anyone of them is interested in making the haul out to Pampa's/Cada's on Wednesday nights.

Soon to be Happy New Year's to everyone, hope all is well.

Played last night at the stick, 120 + got knocked out with 3 tables left, meh, I played good, just couldnt hit a draw to save my arse. Won $75 on cash during one of the 10 min breaks, went back after tourney and ran that up to $500. charity ran out of chips, called it a night. That was supposed be my last poker outing for a while, wife want to save money for a nice trip, bills and stuff, so i will be taking a break from playing for an extended period of time.

However, the wife is working late tonight, and i ran into my mother-in-law at the store and she now wants to go down to the MCC, oh, well, i guess my break from teh pokers starts tomorow.

Heading down about 7pm, I hear they play this 2/5 game down there,,,right PayFor?
On a fun side note, wife is at work till late,

Yeah. Good plan. Because working late means she'll never find out that you went to the Casino...

Decided to come to Cada's Room and play the $40 tournament at 7pm anyone else here? We had 4 tables with 42 players, top 5 getting paid with $500 for 1st place. We're 3 hours in and have 18 players left. Blinds are 1k/2k and I'm at one of those tables were every player limps, who needs an anti? Catch a hand and take down about 8k preflop.
Anyways, they have some pretty good monthly tournaments coming up. The Sunday 1pm tournament will now be different every week rotating between Omaha, Heads Up, Ladies and Senior tournaments. Obviously not happy about the seniors and ladies tournaments but I can't wait to play the Heads up tournament. I might even try the Omaha tournament out since its only $50

1/08 Omaha Tournament $50
1/15 Senior Tournament $45
1/22 Ladies Tournament $30
1/29 Heads up Tournament $75 (must win 2/3)

On a sad note, Motorcity casino's BBJ was hit for $175k and I was going to go play cash instead of this tournament...one can only wonder, "what if"

Just finished playing the 7 p.m. $10 re-buy at Four Aces. I'll never go back there again. There were fights hourly and every single player is apparently a professional and will even berate the 80 year old guys that are trying to limp every hand. I got knocked out in 7th when my 77s lost to 87dd AIPF. I took $110 (first was over $850). The one silver lining in that place is all of the dealers are really nice dudes.

****, grinding 6 hours for $100 was painful

Omaha, I really appreciate your post. Thanks. Early on in this tournament I raise CO with AJ flop was J33, I bet, random guy shoves, and I'm thinking about my earlier post. Then I said **** it, called, he had J7 and the turn was a 7 (weee).

No problem, JP. Hope it helped. We should start like a Detroit strategy group and get together to go over hands, discuss regs tendencies, and share war stories. If anyone is interested I can probably organize like once a month. I know not everyone enjoys the strat talk itt.

Played at Cada's late tonight. Jose313, Patrick said you had left already. Almost got in a fight with a MMA looking guy who got mad at me over IWTSTH. He was dumb enough that he was more mad about me asking to see the hand than about me accusing him of colluding/protecting an all-in player with nothing.

I decided to move tables since he didn't know RRoP, and was making threatening comments. Was told later by the floor that he had had a few beers and had altercations with other players. Plus my karate is rusty.

Lost a big hand when a bad aggressive player flopped a boat (I just didn't see 84o in his range after pf action). Won most of it back against same villain and the young guy who came in second in the $250 tournament the night we had the party. In the three-way pot aipf KK>QQ>?? (aggro villain didn't show.) It was a table with lots of action. Wish 2 am wouldn't come around so soon.

Tr, tl;dr

Ok so we drive down to MCC about 7pm and get the mother-in-law situated with a drink and her favorite slot machines, i head to the poker room, top of list after calling in. And yep, sure as heck, the BBJ had just got hit on the 1/2 at table 9(the one on the angle)

Quick run down what i know,,, i think quad 6's over 2's...176k-ish total, table share 10k and some change due to one player at lunch. Lunch player is a friend of mine he is bummed, ends up getting a decent amount from the other players. Husband and wife at this same table, wife got a table share, hubby got the big end.

Young player says he just got seated 20 min earlier...damn,,wish i could have left sooner.

Resets the BBj at 53k

Really? Nice come back,,,i dont recall a Mich hoodie, was this while we were at table 1 or 2? You can kindly critique my play.
(wait,,,were you table 2, seat 7...yea,, you were pretty cool)

So i sit down tbl 1, turns out to be a nice passive, kind of weak table, not a lot of aggression. I normally like this, it allows me to play alot of hands. I take down alot of pots, but there not big pots. I start with $200 and build it up to $340 mainly with top pairs and avg sized flop bets,,,,,nothing fancy. Aces held up twice,,, kings lost twice.

got caught up in a hand i raised $11 pf with KQs,,,flop was K,9,2,,I bet out $20, 4 folds, 1 call. Turn blank, i fire $20 again, only because i suspect something foul, he calls. Turn black, no flush i suspect he missed, so i fire $50,,,,he just calls and shows K,9 for a flopped two pair..

I switched tables after a misunderstanding when 3 beauty's come to sit at our table and wanted to sit closer to each other. I volunteer to move to help them, guy next to me says he will slide over if I move and the girls seem happy. this took some time, but it was during a deck change, the girls start moving and i head over to seat 10 and this yahoo jumps in my seat. WTF!
I look at him, he says,,oh,,i had the first seat change..see...as he holds up the seat change button like i may not know what it is. WTF!

Hey,, i dont know,, maybe you could have spoken up and said something during the 5 min ordeal to make this girls happy?/ What ever,,,so i switched to table 2 and won the first 2 hands.

i did ok,,,had more fun ended up down $80 after big draw after big draw missed. I did have a stupid hand where i called a raise against this grumpy old guy i didnt like with my famous 9,2 suited diamonds,, flop 3 diam heads up...4 diam hits the river, he had JJ with the J diam. oh well.

The play was nitty, passive weak not alot of big, big pots, did make 1 big lay down with kings.

Met wife at the Sharks club, bought her a drink, sat down and made $70 in 12 minutes,,,then table broke. Down $10 for the night, mother in law had fun, best of all i get a pass from the wifey.

I don't get the part about the seat change, pillsbarry. Was the guy that took your seat at the same table? Why did you have to move to another table? Nice TR, glad things are well domestically for NYE.

Your in a charity room and the following happens how would you react....

Your are playing in a tournament with 5 tables left, blinds are starting to creep up and you need to start seeing some hands. The room is short dealers, and the floor needs a dealer for a cash table, the floor pulls the dealer from your table (for the cash game) and replaces him with some guy who is working for one of the charities later that afternoon to deal the table. This guy has never dealt outside of pass-the-deal house game, plus is not informed on the house rules, and the table basically has to manage the pots. Nothing against the guy he stepped in to help out and did his best.

I understand the cash game is "king" and is what makes the money. But the tournament is what feeds the cash game. As a person that plays both games, I am almost mad enough to never play at this establishment again, but the size of the tournaments is hard to find elsewhere.

Omaha, you playing today? I was supposed to be working today but the boss ended up giving us the day off Happy to have another 4 day weekend. My lady and her brother are heading up north for the night so I'll be riding solo for the evening and planning on playing. I keep hearing about the stick friday tournaments with around 200 runners, can anyone confirm this? Considering checking this out.
