Has anyone else complained about the tv system? A lot of the people I talk to don't have a problem. 3 out of 4 times I use the tv, it is unbearably slow. Multiple stays I've had the tv shutdown and "rebooting" every 10 minutes. Really a shame that something so easily fixed is a black mark on Borgata's record.

There are some complaints a year or so back in the thread about it being slow and randomly rebooting.

I've only used it for checkout, and haven't the last couple times because it's quicker to just sign and drop the key envelope on the way out. (I.e., the TV is slow.)

I was there 6 weeks ago and had no tv for somtime. Did talk to the front desk and they acknowledged the tv issue but did nothing for a while until I called again and they sent the engineer up to reset the remote. It worked after the reset.

I don't play slots or video poker but I'd be willing to give this a try. I've stayed there many times and never had an issue with the TV. Maybe 50% of the stays I haven't turned it on though.

Interesting pot came up, and I thought the ruling was good, but interesting, wondered if it was standard.

I was in a fairly big pot in position with AQ on a board that was like 68Q2 rainbow. I had bet the flop, got minraised on the turn and called. It was a pretty big pot. River was a Q, villain checked and I insta-shoved trying to look bluffy.

Villain tanked for a long time, talking to me, trying to get me to say something, asking if I would show and if I had a Q and all of that. I didn't react. Villain asked the dealer: "If I show my cards it's just a warning, right? Nothing happens to me and it's a live hand?" and dealer responds: "yes."

Kid turns his cards over, trying to gauge my reaction. I don't even look at them because I 100% have the best hand, and am too busy trying to look bluffy.

Dealer calls the floor over, and player says "just a warning right?" and floor looks bored and says "yeah, don't do that anymore, live hand" and walks away. I still just sit there.
Kid finally calls it off, he has AA and I win.

I don't really have too many criticisms of the rule, it seems like a pretty straight-forward common sense one. I do think though, that if regs like this one (and like me now that I'm playing a lot, I guess) know that nothing is going to happen to you when you table your hand, it essentially takes away the meaningfulness of the rule, no?

Also it opened a pretty sick angling opportunity for me. I briefly considered freaking out when he tabled his hand and trying to get his hand killed. If I rant at the floor person like a crazy person and say that his hand is dead because he knew the rule and intentionally exposed it, then I'd imagine I can convince him to call like all of the time, even though I know the ruling is going to go against me.

I thought that would be shady though, and didn't want to be an angling douchebag so I just sat there and let the floor rule and didn't move until it was time to table the winner.

I guess at the end of the day this isn't really a criticism against Borgata, as like I said, their rule seems to make sense. More a word of warning/clarification to the other players who post here on what the Borg rule is and how it's interpreted.

If I could offer any critique, I think perhaps the dealer/floor could take his infraction just a tad more seriously (I think killing his hand would be too much, but maybe a legitimate threat of a 24 hour ban or something?) ?

If it were up to me, I have no problem with showing cards in a heads up pot, I think it's a fun part of the game. But if you're going to have a house rule that forbids it, it seems to me that that rule is pretty useless when people know it's never going to be enforced and break it intentionally. Or maybe they do actually enforce it in some cases, and give people bans for abusing it?

(Also, I relate it just because I think it was a funny story. Lol at checking with the dealer before you break a house rule, getting confirmation, and then breaking it. He was tilting anyway and I just thought it was a hilarious thing to do. Plus, I won the pot, so all's well that end's well).

Especially the waterclub rooms. So what it would take about an hour to turn the handle 5 times in a slot machine.

I honestly do not even turn the TV on only to checkout.

Stak:

First off, I wish that board came out when I had AQ against you.

Second, I agree that there's no point in having the rule because I've seen it happen a bunch and the people are usually regs that know the rule and that they're just going to give them a warning.

Honestly if he did that to me I would just give a calm "isn't his hand dead? I thought that was the rule" just to level him for trying to level me by flipping his cards in the first place.

It's never a dead hand, right? Even if the floor decides a penalty is warranted?

I actually have one time (out of about 10 instances) where the dealer grabbed the exposed hand and mucked it. The guy was not happy.

I'm not an angle shooter whatsoever but if someone exposed their cards to me and I had them beat I would just ask the dealer if their hand was dead since that is the rule, albeit mostly not enforced.

Stak, i would have angled the **** out of him. you make even the slightest bit of fuss about his hand being dead he calls 100% of the time.

And that doesn't make you an angle shooting doushebag when the reg breaks a rule that he knows the house does not enforce with any interest.

Yeah I think it would have been pretty justifiable in that spot, but I try not to ever do anything shady playing. Plus, by the way he was talking I was pretty positive that if I just didn't do anything he was going to talk himself into calling eventually without my help.

I probably wouldn't have lost any sleep over it had I done it though.

Me neither. I am not an angle shooter at all, but if you try it on me, off come the gloves.

players show their cards heads up at the Borg and ive never seen the Floor ruling against them, although, noone has ever called for a Floor either, so. if that were me and someone showed their hand(obv. it is done soley to get an additional read) then you bet i'd say something like:

"uh, you can't do that, that hand's dead." "dealer, that hand's dead." no raise in my voice or tone, just a blank face, "that hand's dead." and when they call you a *** for talking (which i doubt someone would say to to me but w/e) i'd just say," me or you?" and then laugh.

i agree with one of the other posters who said, off come the gloves.

Just another example of how entitled a lot of poker players think they are. You definitlely should have tried to get him to call off the rest.

We haven't had a good near-miss story in a while...this may not be a good one, but it's all I've got.

1/2nl, table 8, somewhere in the wee hours of last Friday/Saturday.

Flop 8d 7d 6d. The turn and river are irrelevant to the story.

Two guys go to showdown...one has 5d 4d, flopped straight flush. The other has 9d.......and another 9.

Everyone from this thread must already be down at the B. I was thinking about having this debate with myself, Sunday tourney is 1K buy in, and 250 K GRNT. But if play 2/5 cash game I am eligible to win cash, comps and the chance at 510K jackpot....now I have been thinking this over and came up with great debates for both sides...??....Or is the only correct answer, both..?
