That is a weak excuse.

Competent individuals should be doing their jobs well all of the time.

In general though, the Borgata staff, floor and dealers, are by far the most professional and competent of any room I've ever played in. I've played hundreds of hours and the dealers are absolutely excellent in general. Even this weekend, there were a lot of really good dealers mixed in with the couple of mistake-prone ones.

I would have chalked it up to bad variance in dealer errors, but it's interesting someone else pointed it out as well.

I have a good amount of experience playing live cash and I still think that Borgata is the best, most professionally run room on the East Coast (and with the best dealers by far) and it's not remotely close. Hopefully this recent bunch of dealer errors is an aberration.
I am having trouble with "dealer error" in this instance. I asked the shift manager what happened and he said that both players tabled their hands, the player told the other player that had two pair "good hand" and folded. The dealer was about to deal the next hand when the player said "Hey, I had a straight. When the floor and shift asked the table what they saw. NO ONE at the table said they saw a straight. I feel bad for anyone that thinks that they have been done wrong. I do, but in this situation there was no proof of any straight.

Stan, if both hands are tabled, shouldn't the dealer correct the player and say no your hand is good as you have a straight? Isn't this the point of tabling the hand?

No one at the table saw the straight. The dealer didn't see the straight and none of the players.

Quoting from the original post:

As she does that i say wtf wtf wtf i had a straight. She stops and we call floor. Floor (short bald guy) asks if anyone saw the cards, 1 person says they can confirm, the rest werent paying much attention.
I'm not sure whether this poster is correct that a player could confirm the straight or whether your shift manager was right that no one could. With that being said, I don't want to imply that I am labeling that specific instance dealer error. I wasn't at the table, we only got one side of the story, and I have no idea what happened. Didn't intend to imply this was dealer error or not, because I don't know.

My post you quoted was referring to a handful of dealer errors that I myself saw at my own table when I was playing there this weekend. Several times dealers, after being corrected said stuff like "Oh my god, thank you so much, I'm so sorry I'm just really tired" or "Oh, you're right of course, I didn't see the flush" or something like that.

The only reason I commented on it is because I've always been impressed and surprised by how few dealer errors happen at the Borg as against other casinos I've played at. You should take it as a compliment on how highly I regard your room that seeing a handful of errors over 25 hours stuck in my mind as an aberration. At other casinos, that's called "a normal weekend" haha...

You should be able to do better than 20 hours if you're there for three days.

I'd say try for at least one 10-hour stretch and see if that makes your calendar light up. I'm getting pretty much every Friday, but I've been playing 8-10 hours at a stretch. Stan implied a few weeks ago that duration was a factor (among the many).

That was Stan's polite way of saying that maybe the upset player didn't actually have a straight. There's no proof, so who's to say?

Playing two 5 hr sessions in 1 gaming day is the same as playing for 10 hrs straight, right?

I always put in a 12 hour session on Saturday when I'm there but I think the poker day is 12am-11:59am and I play from like 1 pm to 2-3 am so I don't know if I'm logging 12 in "one day"

The player had a straight. After tabling his hand. Isn't tabling a hand declared as final motion/action of a hand regardless of what occurs after? Isn't that the reason for tabling a hand in general?

Apparently there is no actual proof that the player had a straight. Nor did anyone actually remember him having it according to Stan.
