Stan, two questions related to these live game reports:
1. Are these the same as the ones that are listed on the Borgata site?
2. How often are the reports updated? I ask because I was in the Borgata poker room Friday at 5 PM playing in a 10/25 NL game, but I don't see that game listed.

He made a mistake on the day, he meant Saturday 5pm. He said Friday 5pm but posted on Saturday at 5:10pm.

I might have been at your table Friday night. I'm an older guy but i like to have some yuks with others at the table. Man, the most miserable table (especially for Friday Night) crowd at 3 differnt tables in my session.

Win or lose, i try to hope to have some entertaining time at the table. These tables seemed to be mostly my age (mid 50's), cranky and full of piss.

I've had a better time at the dentist....

I was just involved in the most rediculous hand/ruling ever at 1/2. I really am not sure how to handle this situation so maybe Stan or Tab could input?

after a few people limp , I raise late pos with AQ. 4 people call.
Flop is A10 9. Someone open jams for 110. I snap call with my AQ

villain tables 10 9 for two pair.

The Deal then turn and burns in literally 1 second. J8

I make a straight. ( Winning hand obv)

She ships pot incorrectly, and flips cards and mixes/washes/gathers them together.
As she does that i say wtf wtf wtf i had a straight. She stops and we call floor. Floor (short bald guy) asks if anyone saw the cards, 1 person says they can confirm, the rest werent paying much attention.
The floor then makes us sit out while they "check the cameras". The game continues while me and the guy who has my money sit and wait. He comes back 10 minutes later to say "We see a face card on turn but cant determine if it is a Jack or not. Sorry"

So here i am, **** out of luck that a dealer just mucked my winning hand after me TABLING the winning hand. I mean, how do i even approach this. I asked for some sort of accomodation, in comp dollars or a free stay or food and the floor wasnt even willing to hear me out. Mind you i was completely respectful and calm during the entire situation without causing any attention causing scene in the room. We simply just sat out while the game continued.

I really dont know what to do, although $150 isnt the end of the world, its money. And players should be able to rely on the dealers to ship the winning hand money.

Any input? Thanks.

Does anyone think playing 1.25 a hand video poker for as long as $100 will last me would help or hurt my chances at getting weekend rooms? I know video poker gets a lot less credit than slots does.

That sucks big time. But there isn't a whole lot the floor can do if the cards have been mucked and it's unclear what they were.

FWIW, I have recently moved most of my play to Borgata from other rooms in AC and I have been unpleasantly surprised at how poor many of the dealers are. Among a number of situations and issues I have experienced I had two instances when a dealer was rushing and tried to muck my best hand and award the pot to another player. Fortunately I learned long ago to protect my cards.

Apologies for a derail but in about 100 hours of play I've seen a dealer repeatedly use the deck to scratch his nose while hands were in play, a dealer go ape**** on a player because he POLITELY pointed out that she was dealing high and exposing cards (the floor sided with the dealer and warned the player he would be thrown out if he made any more comments), a dealer who rolls the deck every time he brings in chips or puts out the flop (I pointed this out to him and he insisted almost every dealer does it), a dealer who doesn't announce stradles because "everyone can see it", and much more. Not what I was expecting from the best room in AC.

That is total BS - surprised it happened at Borg....similar thing happened to me in Vegas @ GVR - since then, I table my cards while still holding them until they ship me my winnings - no chance of some dipstick dealer mucking my winning hand....

you need to learn to protect your hand. There is no more chance that a dealer is going to get their hands on my cards than there is that the dealer is going to let me take orange chips from the rack. Always protect your cards... bbjp = $459,528

comment: agree there needs to be more dealer training so that 'straddles' are announced before players have had a chance to look at their cards. agree dealing high and bouncing cards off the button and the drop hammer also need to be dealt with...good observations!

I'm heading down tomorrow to play the 11am tournament but am definitely interested in starting a PLO game tomorrow. Would anyone be interested in starting 2/5 plo, 1-2plo, or plo/plo8 mixed? I'll do any variation, and I'll even start it with 2 other people just to get the game going.

Fwiw, I corrected more dealer mistakes this past weekend at Borgata than I had ever seen before. Training new dealers perhaps? Lots of rake errors, problems calculating side pots, and a couple times the dealers tried to ship the pot to the wrong player before I/the table stopped him/her.

In general though, the Borgata staff, floor and dealers, are by far the most professional and competent of any room I've ever played in. I've played hundreds of hours and the dealers are absolutely excellent in general. Even this weekend, there were a lot of really good dealers mixed in with the couple of mistake-prone ones.

I would have chalked it up to bad variance in dealer errors, but it's interesting someone else pointed it out as well.

I have a good amount of experience playing live cash and I still think that Borgata is the best, most professionally run room on the East Coast (and with the best dealers by far) and it's not remotely close. Hopefully this recent bunch of dealer errors is an aberration.

dealers were exhausted after dealing many long days with no break because of the tournament, - I would have promoted some of the tnmt. dealers (so as to give the frontline cash games dealers more time off.) I think after a two week vacation, we will see less errors...

I always place my winning hands infront of me not in the middle of the table until the dealer acknowledge like saying "2 pairs" or "7 high straight" before I push them to the middle.

Or even better, never relinquish control of your hand until you are pushed the pot. This includes when you bet and everyone folds (just in case you miss that someone still has cards). If you do both of these things, you will never have your hand accidentally mucked.

Borgata has the worst floor ever, sorry for saying that but I have a lot of instances in which the floor was just plain stupid since they promote the worst dealers to floor sometimes, and part time floors are the worse. On that situation it was not the floors fault, but other places have worse dealers, you gotta keep a eye on the dealer, as you said dealers are tired, and you sometimes see them looking tired, if you see that pay super close attention to your hands and make sure you are on top of it.

Ahhh, makes perfect sense. This had to have been it, don't know why I didn't think of it earlier.

Disagree 100%. There is only one floor at Borgata that I don't really like, and think they are generally quite good.

I can remember being upset/disappointed at something a floor did/how a floor acted at Borgata one time in hundreds of hours at Borgata, versus like once a night at the Taj where I used to play before moving all my play over.

Edit: I also remember 3 specific times in the past two weeks when I thought to myself that the floor handled a situation completely perfectly.

I can believe that. Thanks for pointing it out.

I've got a bunch of multiday visits to Borg planned from now through the end of March and I look forward to seeing things get "back to normal."
