I went to Bobby Flay once. I got hanger steak, and my two friends got Filet, and NY Strip. We all agreed that mine was unquestionably the best. Although you may not want to totally trust our judgement because we were all completely wasted.

I dont think they have $10, but they do have $20.

When I was there a few weekends ago, I asked for a $25 chip for 5 reds, and the bank said they couldnt do that, but then offered a $20 chip for 4 instead...

it made me sad because I love those green chips. they are the best.

That is odd that they wouldn't do that trade for you. All I know is that you have to buy 25s and below in increments of 20, at least at the poker room.

They do have 10 chips. They are used at 40/80 limit. I guess borgata tries to use the 4 chip/8 chip structure whenever possible.

Borgata definitely has $10 chips. They're blue I think.

The cashier would give you a single yellow but not a green? Wtf? Not sure why you want a single green chip, but of you want it for some reason go get it at a table game. They won't have a problem doing that transaction for you.

Might have to skip some work this week and come down.

Will try to get a mid limit mixed game going (pink chip up to 20/40?) if I do.

Hey Ruler of the East. This Sunday and Monday, I'll be coming in with my parents (they're treating me - being blackjack and let it ride degens for years, they're using some of their comps to get us a suite at Harrahs.)

My games are NLHE (which you've got in spades) Fixed Limit Omaha 8, Pot Limit Omaha 8, and Pot Limit Omaha.

The problem is bankroll. I'm a break-even player who has a total bankroll of $4200. I can afford to play the $10/20 Limit Omaha 8 and $1/2 NLHE, if you spread it, but can't afford higher than $1/2 (maybe $1/3) for Pot Limit Omaha and Pot Limit Omaha 8. Do you ever spread either pot limit game at those limits? If I came and declared interest, would you spread it if you had at least 6 players?

PLO is often spread at 1/2, and though often the players want to put in a $5 bringin. PLO8 is rarely spread, but the floor will often start games short if they have extra dealers and if you ask nicely. They probably won't call short games unless requested.

Not really, but it doesn't stop people from trying Usually they buy in short and look for spots to shove. I can't stand it. Get more than 1 or 2 in the game and it pretty much ruins it.

PLO should be 1-2 (5) or 1/3 200-500, and 5-5 500-1500, and always 9max, 10 handed PLO is bad. There should also always be straddling, preferably Mississippi style, but I guess NJ still hasn't seen the light on that one.

I hope though now that they've approved all the Draw games and Razz/Stud Hi Lo no qualifier, they could take a look at Straddles.

Please please no button straddles. The absolutely ruin the game IMO by making the correct strategy much much tighter. I dont see anything benefit to a rule which even further exaggerates the value of position.

In fact, all of your suggestions strike me as bad for introducing new players to the game (and thus the potential growth of the game) by increasing both the variance of the game and the bankroll required to reasonably play.

I should have been more specific, I agree with you for the entry level game, the best structure for attracting new players and building from the low end is either 1-2 (5 bring in) or 1-3 no straddles.

For bigger games though I disagree, in those games you are looking to attract people that want to gamble, straddles induce action, the more action the better. Sure correct strategy is blah blah, but if the whole table knows that then its a bad game anyway.

That wasn't the point though, straddles are just a pipe dream in NJ anyway, to get back to the point, I'm saying the PLO structures at Borgata should be either 1-2 (5) or 1-3, (200-500 buy in), not the current 1-2 and a bring in if everyone agrees nonsense. For a bigger game it should be 5-5, not 2-5, and 500-1500, not 200-1000. Right now Borgata is just using the NLHE structures of 1-2 and 2-5 for PLO and it doesn't make sense.

Bri, I think that even a 1/2/5 or 1/3 would be pretty big for an intro game. I think straight 1/2 with a 200-500 buy-in is a fine starter structure. I agree that multiple shortstackers can ruin a PLO game, but the only way to combat against that is to require high minimum buy-ins like 100 or 150 BB.

Just to let you know, I AM one of those intro players who is interested in PLO, and I'm going to the Borgata this Sunday. I would -hate- the idea of a $1/2/5 game, that's just way too big for me to play! The pots would get enormous, even compared to the already enormous pots of PLO $1/2!

To be fair, I can't really afford PLO $1/2 either, but if I can play with a $200 stack, and the game isn't stupid aggressive preflop (with pot-sized 4-bets nearly every hand) then I'd love to play. I prefer PLO8, but there you go.

Got a vista room at the water club (didn't request it, they just gave it to me), have to say I'm disappointed. It's nothing special at all. It's slightly (and very slightly) bigger then a regular WC room, has the extra windows because it's on the corner and that's it. Same TV (which just crashed lol) and everything. Would not recommend paying extra for it if you're paying for a room.

Was a little tilted that they couldnt put the tourney clock on any of the tvs.. My table was right by the bathrooms, constant and endless smell of cig smoke.. So gross..
Only bright spots of the night was playing with Montel. He had heaps of chips early on, prob close to 100k. Then he just spewed. Fun to watch.
Oh and i bumped into Jean-Robert in the bathroom...

I've played in the Borgata poker room several times in the last few months and have really enjoyed my experience each time. I have two minor questions about the room rules, based on situations that occurred during my most recent visit. (I'm not complaining; I just want to know the rules for future reference.)

(1)

Player A bet $50.
Player B called.
Player C shoved all-in for $60.
Player A re-raised all in.
Player B called the re-raise.

Was Player A allowed to re-raise even though Player C's shove was for less than a minimum raise?

(2)

Player A announces "all-in" and shoves his red, green and black chips over the bet line. Before Player B can act, Player A tosses his three white chips to the dealer, who says "thank you" and quickly puts them in his tip box.

Was Player A allowed to tip the dealer with chips from this stack after announcing "all in"?

1. I've seen this ruled once before where Player A cannot re-raise. Though it was midnight and most of the table and even the dealer seemed iffy on it.

2. If he had tossed them in two seconds before, would it matter? I wouldn't mind. Sure a rules nit would say he shouldn't be doing it but I can't imagine most people or the floor would really care.
