They need to ratchet up the sentimentality for the finale. I fully expect someone to go tear-assing across 1000 miles of indian country in search of their childhood coin collection in St Louis. You see, they really loved those coins, and isn't that what matters most, now more than ever!

I'm pissed off at the world over how much I hate this show.

I don't think those were dead bodies, they were sleeping zombies. That's why they were being so careful not to step on them.

I dunno about that, many of them had clearly been headshot.

The black guy and kid from the pilot can't come back soon enough.

The RV thing isn't a nit and could have been solved with one line of dialogue, which is what is so stupid about it.

Why were there so many dead bodies outside the CDC? It didn't look like they were eaten by zombies or died in some kind of firefight. They were just laying there.

I'm sticking with my initial read of the show simply having way too many characters. The scenes with the black woman and the bit guy... I don't know either of their names. Were they a couple or something?

Regarding who gets the blame for this, everyone is all on Darabont's nuts but Shawshank was 15 years ago.

Since then he's made The Green Mile, The Majestic, and The Mist. This show is totally believable as "From the director of The Mist". Isolated good parts interspersed with random crap, every character being the broadest possible stereotype, etc. The Mist also had way too many characters, IIRC.

The 'Shank is a pretty good movie, and maybe it's just that I really love the Stephen King story on which it was based (for my money- the best thing he's ever written), but I never was blown away with it as a movie. It's a great story, it had two great actors, but I don't recall thinking it was a great movie once you set aside those two things.

Agree with everyone's comments. Its just disappointing that everyone has to be ******ed/do ******ed things for anything significant to happen.

The Boondock brother is my favorite character at the moment, at least he has some idea of what to do. When are we going to come across the smart guys in full body armour who have barricaded themselves in? Never, because then there's no story that the writers are capable of telling.

I think it's funny that the guy we are supposed to dislike the most (Racist guy's brother) is the most rational person and is without a doubt the guy I would most want with me in this situation.

Good thing you're not the movie forum mod because that is one terrible opinion you have there.

One of the reasons it took me awhile longer to quit watching "Heroes" then it rationally should have is that every crappy episode ended with 4 minutes of suspense that would be enough to peek interest. That seems to be the route this show is going.

They're decision to let the guy free to turn into a zombie struck me as weird, I was hoping at least one person would point out that if they did that they would be responsible for another killing machine in the world, and anybody he ate would be on them. Also, didn't only-compelling-character-please-bring-him-back in the first ep do the same with his wife, and doesn't Officer Friendly remember that he regrets it?

We finally got a timeline: "Day 194 since Wildfire declared and 63 days since the decease abruptly went global" -- sounds like CDC is behind the zombies, i.e. they were working on a weapon and 4-5 months later (2 months ago) it was accidentally released into the public??

lol 63 days. Worst. Survivors. Ever. and lol at the previous "they found the hatch" reply. The parallels between this show and (the far, far superior) "Lost" grow every week, but it's still missing so much of what made Lost great.

edit to add ratings:
Quote:
Sunday night’s episode of The Walking Dead scored a 2.8 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 5.6 million viewers, both season highs, and that during a holiday weekend. Beware the zombies indeed.
Gaining from the big premiere rating is impressive.

If this season was a normal 10-13 eps in length I would quit now but since it's only one more I'll watch it, but I won't like it.

S1 has def been a disappointment considering how strong the premier was but I have faith in AMC and suspect S2 on will be great TV if you can appreciate watching something besides zombies eating people for 40 mins.
The Walking Dead Quote
11-29-2010 , 07:28 PM
Yea but the thing is the ratings have been great (and rising not falling over the course of the season). So there is really no incentive for AMC to say anything other than "give us more of the same".

I don't think this is what is implied at all. "Wildfire" is an allusion to "The Andromeda Strain," where Wildfire is the code name of the team that is investigating a disease carried from space by a satellite that re-enters, crashes in an isolated town, and immediately kills everyone in the town except a little girl. The CDC scientist is experimenting in a way and environment similar to the Andromeda Strain's Wildfire team.

So while the CDC has known about the disease for a half year, there is no reason to think they were weaponizing it (and that would be done by the Army at Fort Detrich), but rather either the quarantine failed or the disease spread in some other route. I'm betting the quarantine failed at the CDC and that's why the assistant coach from Miracle is the only scientist left. Everyone else is dead/zombified.

Yeah, Shawshank is one of the most overrated good movies ever. It's good, but not "OMG TOP 5 MOVIE EVAR" status like it sometimes gets treated like.

The second to last show of this season and I think we saw 2 zombies the entire episode. If you can't make the show any good at least show me some zombies getting shot in the head plz.

LOL that is so ridiculous, in the previous 4 games the zombies were Caucasian and it wasn't a problem for a black kid to play the game. However white kids shooting Black Zombies in Africa is racist.

I was wondering where I'd heard that before, thanks for the reminder. What a great book. First movie was pretty good, more recent miniseries not so much.

Funny how all the subplots created for no good reason like the radiator hose make me think of Entourage, then I can't stop thinking about the line "VINCE, IT'S NOT TV, IT'S TV WITH FRANK DARABONT!"

Show would be saved if it had the Entourage crew do a cameo as victims of a zombie attack.

the pick axe scene was plenty for me.

but i'm gonna echo what most are saying here...i'm not 'disappointed' per se, but i'm not totally blown away by the OMGBESTZOMBIESHOWEVAR that i thought it would be.

I've been very forgiving of the faults of this show since it's unlike everything else I watch.. I love the premise and really want this show to be good.

Some are hard to forgive though. The hose situation: obviously they found one at the gas station but they way they just skipped over resolving that was so weird.

Also, what about that Mexican family deciding to go off on their own to Alabama or wherever? That was ludicrous... obviously they'd be dead that first night when it's one dude trying to protect his wife+2 young kids all by himself. Made no sense.

I still really look forward to new episodes of this, I just hope it stays interesting.
