So all your recent rounds are invalid then. Unless 15 clubs is the Canadian exchange rate.

14 is obviously the max you can carry, but I'm not a pro and don't care.

I've been carrying the 4 iron only since I bought my new set (Apex) about a month ago. I've realized the 3&4 hybrids>>>4 iron. (so, not to worry - I will be going down to 14 on my next outing and my 4 iron will be sitting out)

As of now, in my bag:
10.5 TM SLDR
3W Adams Speedline Fast 12
3&4 H Callaway x22
5i-AW Callaway Apex
56* & 60* Cleveland CG15
Odyssey White Hot Pro 2-ball putter

I've always preferred 4 wedges.

My Dad used to carry like 18 clubs so 15 doesn't seem too bad.

If anyone wants to do Arcadia Bluffs the week after 4th of July I'm there.

A maximum of 14 clubs is allowed under the Rules of Golf. Intentionally flaunting this rule is no different than marking down a 4 when you really made 6 or kicking your ball out of the rough ala Judge Smails.

the problem with Bandon hosting the 2+2 Open is they don't allow carts on the course (in fact they aren't even an option), therefore cockblocking the potential for at ntnBO/ARC cart pairing.

thinking i'd still pick Bandon and hope for the apres-golf hijinx to make up for the difference.

I'll leave my jockstrap at the hotel. BO can carry everything else.

BO/ARC play

alternate shot against the field. And they can only have 14 clubs between them.

And before anyone gives me **** for carrying 4 wedges. I love it. Carrying less than 4 wedges has to be wrong for any player. Whether or not you can add or remove yardages to your wedges if you are between clubs.

I could use some input here:

So I have a 60* & 56* wedges (Cleveland CG15) And my Approach wedge is 50* and PW is 45* (Callaway Apex).

Should I get my AW & PW bent 2* higher? So they're 52* & 47*?

My 60* goes 80-85 yards. 56* goes 100-105 yards.
My PW goes 140 and my AW goes 120 yards.

A little anecdote showing that length can mean absolutely nothing when it comes to scoring.

Had a golf trip with the guys to Minnesota this weekend, we played a course that measured between 6000 and 6300 yards 5 times. Not a ton of trees, very little water in play, greens not overly undulating. Complete pushover right? Over those 5 rounds was a combined +1 shooting no better than -1 any round.

The greens were really, really firm. Even shots from the fairways would release like crazy. If you were approaching from the rough just forget it. And the rough was thick, especially around the greens. You simply had to hit an absolutely perfect shot to have a good look at birdie. And if you didn't you were fighting for par. Saw a 4 handicapper shoot 90.

Have played 7000 yard courses that were much easier to score on than this track. It wasn't unfair, just sneaky tough.

What course did you play BO? We have had so much rain here I'm surprised that a course could get their greens so firm

Reminds me of Wildwood CC in south jersey. Small little greens. Fun course though

wow, 4 golfers were hit by a lightning strike today just outside of Toronto. I'm assuming they must have ran for cover together or they were playing committee golf. 1 in critical condition

It would be cool if the 2+2 Open idea got beyond the talking about it stage. That being said, I'm not going to volunteer a way to get that going.

I'd definitely be interested, and probably definitely in, if we went with Bandon. Bandon should be pretty good incentive to get people to go. I'm interested wherever it's going to be, but whether I realistically go depends on how easy and cheap it is to get to, which makes Vegas seem like a good contender.

Bandon is a great course, but that's all it's got going for it. Expensive for most to fly to the nearest airport, then you gotta rent a car and drive a ways, costs a bunch to play the course, no carts which eliminates some people, lodging is expensive. Etc, etc.

Vegas has great courses you can play for peanuts this time of year. Cabs are cheap, lodging is cheap. Plus it's Vegas.

All true. Bandon would definitely cut down on numbers. Still be fun to get a group to go, but for the sake of inclusiveness Vegas is a better choice.

I have golf scheduled for this Thursday, Saturday and Sunday - so it's gonna be hard to squeeze in Friday but Thursday looks like it may not happen (and if it doesn't, that means I can get stuff done then and keep my Friday open).

Where are you thinking? And what time?

I'd be up for anywhwere at whatever time, the world is my oyster. At the moment I have my sights on either Osprey (probably the Hoot) so I can put in some pre and post-game practice or using up the pre-paid passes for Ballantrae that I have. For Ballantrae, I have 20 fully transferable full round passes for 69.50$ that include a warm-up bucket of balls and a cart during certain circumstances (not sure what they are as I never take the cart, but it's probably for weekday and afternoon rounds).

Let me know if your plans change and if you're interested in playing.

RE: The 2P2 Open idea

I think it would be a lot more feasible and we could get a lot more players if we picked several different courses in different areas of the country (.ie Vegas, Chicago, NYC, Dallas, etc.) and adjusted scores based on course ratings (I think someone mentioned this earlier).

I for one for example don't have the money right now to take vacation days and fly out somewhere like Vegas...but if had something near NYC would definitely be in. I'm sure a lot of people would be in the same boat.

Annoying thing about Chicago is that I figure most people coming from out of town would want to stay in the city - because, well, the city of Chicago kicks ass in the Summer.

All of the courses that I would recommend playing are probably an hour drive, so logistics may be difficult. I'm sure any one from out of town would want to play Cog (though I think it's overrated). I'd recommend places like Cantigny, Harbourside, etc.
