They don't make guys like Tommy Bolt anymore: http://www.lasportshall.com/inductee...?back=inductee

The best stuff is at the end of the article. I had heard the story about him stomping his driver and his spikes getting stuck, but didn't know he got fined for farting while his opponent was trying to putt.

Is there a go to book or something for golf rules/etiquette? I've played a lot but really have no idea what the actual rules are.

I took a few videos of my swing tonight after my lesson and here they are in their splendid glory. We talked a lot about how disconnected my swing gets at the top; at times, frames and frames go by that contain nothing but me lifting my arms to the top with no hip turn. We worked on me trying to unglue my hips in the backswing by trying to get that knee heading behind the ball on the way back.

It was my first time using my dslr for video and I only had a little bit of light left so the composition sucks and the lens keeps making annoying sounds while continuously focusing. I'll try to get some better ones soon.

Pitching wedge - Face on

6 Iron - Face on

Driver - Face on

The governing body of whatever country or region you live in would be the place to go to for a rule book. If you live in the states it's the USGA, Canada is the RCGA (Royal Canadian Golf Association), etc. I would think the defacto standard would be the USGA rule book, but handicap rules can be drastically different from country to country.

Spotts I'm not expert but you clearly have this weird hinge at the start of your downswing; maybe try to mentally think about initiating the downswing with your arms first.

Yeah, that little move at the top starts from my poor backswing. If you look at the pitching wedge video, look how far my hip turns back in the pseudo practice swing and then compare it to the final swing. Since there's no hip turn, my hands take over and raise the club to the top halfway through the backswing. This is part of why my golf game is so polarizing, if my timing is on I can play pretty good golf, but if it's off I'm a mess.

Pretty standard imo, if I could hit the ball using my practice swing I bet I'd be a lot better ball striker

Spotts,

Need dtl shots.

The lifting isn't caused by your hips not turning. Thus, that knee action your teacher is recommending is turrible. Leads to so so so much lateral movement.

Lot of good stuff there though.

Post something dtl for sure.

Too much lateral movement is first thing I noticed as well. Want to stay more centered

I'm also not a fan of really trying to accomplish leg/knee movement on the backswing. If you turn the upper body properly the hips and lower body will be dragged along rather naturally.

Thanks for the advice guys, the dtl shots I took were out of focus so I scrapped them. I'll try to get some this weekend

I shoot amazing when I'm playing against similar or worse playing partners.
And play like crap and fully tighten up when playing against legit golfers (see: single digit cappers).
I know it's some sort of mental block, but I can't pinpoint what it is.

I do the same. Especially if I'm playing with a longer hitter. I think I tense up to try to hit it further. I prefer to be the alpha as opposed to the beta.

Interesting...I tend to play towards the level of the other players in my group. Play better with better players, worse with worse.

Brag on my home club pro Jason Schmuhl getting into the PGA club pro again. I think he gets into Pebble, Reno, Silverado and the Web.com event in Hayward also. Lots of power, putts with a paddle grip against his forearm ( Langer method)

Photo is on the members tee box on the par 3 13th hole.

Then you have everyone waiting for the green to clear on short par 4s and every par 5 even more than they do already.

i played huntingdon valley two or 3 times about 15 years ago in some junior events. I was pretty bad at that time and remember shooting infinity but I did enjoy it.
