Now that football is over I have started working out again, purely for golf purposes. Hopefully the motivation lasts for a few months, because we just got 13 inches of snow dumped on us Saturday and golf weather is still 2 months off.

Are your workouts specifically tailored for the golf game? I'd be curious to hear what types of things you are doing.

I've been working more on flexibility but would love to add a routine or two.

They showed Mark Wilson doing workouts the other day and I must say I was pretty impressed. Seems like he puts a lot of work into it and was doing specific drills catered toward a right-handed golf swing.

Few weeks ago I've done FMS test, lateralization of my core is amazing.

I'm also doing researches for my master degree about lumbar spine. range of my right rotation in lumbar spine is almost twice as big as left rotation

I need to work on my both side but I guess that with golf there is not much you can do

I always wonder about golf fitness as well. I've been on some TPI programs and they seemed to not do a whole lot.

I've recently starting doing Starting Strength which is just squats, deadlifts, press, and bench press mostly. I'm keeping up with foam rolling and mobility so I am rarely stiff and just started working on some active release treatment with a chiropractor that should be good as well.

I'm not lifting heavy enough yet to notice any real strength differences with my swing/distance, but I figure it's going to be more productive than doing resistance training with tubing, etc.

Don't ask me for workout advice. Mainly Im just doing stretching/abs/core stuff from P90X, as well as some arm/chest/shoulder dumbbell lifting at home. I want to work some leg stuff in, but I don't have the equipment (or time/money for gym) but I'm trying to figure something out.

I am skinny as ****, but very tall, so I have zero problems hitting the ball a mile. I mainly want to increase my stability and flexibility, and get back into reasonable shape. I am in the worst shape Ive been in since before high school probably. And when I get out of shape, I'm one of the lucky ones who doesnt gain any weight. In fact, Ive lost about 10 pounds of muscle since summer. 4 months of beer + couch (aka football season) will do that. I want to add that muscle and strength back, because for the last couple months I have felt like complete dog**** as a whole.

Hopefully I will get a nice head start physically for when the ground thaws out in 6-8 weeks.

June gonna be so epic
Euro2012 this year is in Poland&Ukraine.
Got tickets for all the games I wanted: 3x Poland in group stage, ESP-ITA, 2x quaterfinals, 1x semifnal.

All games are in Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw and all got nice golf courses, especially waiting to play Sierra GC near Gdansk.
Traveling with my friend (online team PokerStars Pro btw) who is also playing golf so it's gonna be good
hope the weather will be fine
can't way anyway

Mind sharing what type of core / abs stuff you're doing?

Sorry, I'm about a level .01/10 when it comes to knowledge on working out. I just do what I see in Gatorade commercials.

I haven't bought shoes in years... Anyone have any recommendations, or really, what I should be looking for besides comfort? Not sure if shoe "technology" has changed recently, etc.

I love the Pumas I have. Always had positive experiences with Nike and Adidas as well.

I'd say just go with what look you like, preferably a pair that will go with many 'outfits', and stick with the bigger brands (Adidas, FJ, Nike, Puma)

I was always a Classics guy, but my last couple pairs have been Adidas. The Tour 360 LTD's, and now I am mostly wearing the adipure nuovo's. Really enjoyed all of the Adidas shoes.

That said, I cannot wait for the Nike Free's to be released. They are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn and have completely solved my huge shin splint issue. Will definitely be buying a pair when they come out, likely in June it sounds like.

Anyone notice last week during the final round Spencer Levin and his caddy both smoking on the tee box? How is this allowed?

Why wouldn't smoking on a golf course be allowed?

For the same reason shorts are not allowed. It's the PGA tour. They are professionals making millions of dollars, in the final group on Sunday, they should exhibit themselves as professionals. I wonder what they did with the butt after they were done with the cigarette? It's really disgusting being downwind from someone for 18 holes and inhaling disgusting toxic cigar smoke. And then seeing fairways and greens littered with stubs and butts. How is leaving a cigarette butt on the course any better than leaving a hot dog wrapper or a beer can on the course? It's all ineffably revolting.
