Not finishing all gold upgrades before upgrading th seems like a massive leak

I had someone attack my base with 21 valks, while they were tied up on the first set of skull walls my CC dragon roasted the lot of them, it was pretty fantastic.

The rest of his troops were hogs, also chum to my dragon.

They obv didn't know who they were dealing with, please tell us mawwwr.

Oh wow thx for posting that as well, I really love how you bunch your traps up to fully eliminate your enemies, pro move IMO. My defenses are not as high of level as yours, but **** it, im just gonna buy some gems and catch right up, that way we have the exact same base, but less work on my part.

did something change with cups in this update today? I just lost 26 when a guy one league below (maybe @200 cups dif between us) 2-starred me. Seems pretty high on a non-revenge loss, no?

There's gonna be a fair bit of upward movement from lower ths with the gem boosts. This looks standard imo...

Hmm. Thanks. I rarely even use the Valk...I just know once I hit TH9 the chance of upgrading Valk & Golem plummets.

Not sure I follow...how am I handicapping myself? I'd think that maxing out troops and walls and defense at each TH level is a must, no?

My thoughts exactly. My plan when I eventually pull trigger on TH9 is to enter it w maxed storages. Until then I'm 4 pieces of black wall short and one more upgrade on the new DE drill. After tonight's war my BK starts upgrade to L9. Planning on taking him to 10 and then focusing all DE on Golem or Valk 2...likely Golem.

It's literally how everyone does it.

If there's one thing I learned about poker is that the "norm" of uneducated is massively -EV.

The reason it's not a good idea to stay and max at each level is that you can reach a point where you're hampering your growth by doing so.

I learned this lesson at TH7, when I had already gotten all purple walls (max for that level) and was stuck trying to max everything. That meant I was waiting for builders to free up, sitting for days with full storages.

While I sat with full storages I was a target for more raids than usual (i.e. costing me loot) and I couldn't continue raiding (again, costing me loot)

By upgrading to TH8 before I was maxed I was able to then pour those resources into new research, walls and buildings and keep my growth going better than if I had stayed at TH7 and waited.

Donni, sounds like your construction of TH9 should already be underway or should start ASAP. Personally I didn't worry about golem yet because they aren't any good until lvl4-5 anyways. While I will use it in the future, it will also be much easier to get DE at TH9 with lvl6 troops and higher collectors.

And then you'll probably be dumping your DE into Heroes instead of Golem research anyway.

Yea I'd get AQ to 10 before I think about golem at all. Going to be ballooning for the first half of TH9 before I start working on gowiwi.

Once the DE collectors are at lvl6, I foresee a massive abundance of DE. 5k per day in passive is huge.

what trophy range? I'm using mostly BARCH (with a few giants, goblins and wb's in the mix) in gold II for relatively easy loot. Balloonion is time-consuming to build up, but if you're at a higher trophy level (crystal?) maybe that's better.

although I wouldn't baloonion until I had lvl 6 loons

I meant for war, with balloon6/minion5. Can still dragon if i have to also. I will continue to barch +lvl6giants/lvl5breakers/lvl5wbs for farming.

Balloon will be my first upgrade, followed by giant6 or minion5 depending on resources.

Someone screenshot my base design. It had most heroic defence and is probably close to optimal.

Clearly base design is highly overrated and walls are useless.
