The SB had been at the table for about 25 minutes, playing a crazy 76/68 game. He had been going all in nearly every hand, and lucking out over and over.

I waited for a quality hand, in the button.

This is several hands later, against the same crazy villain. After the hand I posted above this, I won a large pot, and got some of my money back.

Then this happens:

In this hand, I was thinking I was ahead of whatever range that the villain was playing. With JA, I felt ahead enough to be able to call his all-in.

Could I have played these two hands differently? I returned to playing poker after taking a short break from the game.. These two hands are my worst, in terms of EV differences.

The good news is.. I was able to get back half of the money I lost to him a couple of hands later, but unfortunately, he left the table. Aaggh!

I should add that during this session, I played a 19.6/8.4/5.63 game. This is over 439 hands.

Since I returned to poker, I've played a 15.7/6.4/6.29 game over 1.1k hands. It's worked out pretty well so far, until I met this particular villain. I'm still a winning player over the 1.1k hands, but these two hands have wrecked my winrate.. blah.

Any advice?

Tighten down your vpip/pfr. Closer to a 15/13. Even a 11/10 is highly profitable at 2nl.

1.1k hands is nothing to tell if you are a winning player. U need more like 1 million hands to decide that.

Same villain in both hands & he runs like god vs me

As for why I shoved 130bb deep instead of flatting or 4betting? UTG+1 was running 97/43 and hadn't failed to call a shove yet after entering a pot, plus I put the 3bettor on a very strong range given I was UTG and UTG+1 was a maniac. Figured it would look a lot like I had AK and at least 1 would call.
