lol, don't buy squared-toe shoes. $200 is definitely cutting it close, if not impossible to get a complete outfit.
12-27-2013 , 11:55 PM
it depends on the club, the more upscale the less chance youll get in with jeans (i think, hopefull someone with more experience can clarify). if youre unsure, id go with chinos. Squared toe shoes are bad iirc, rounded are better.

purple shirt is ok if you think you can pull it off, id rather go with something safer/more versatile like blue/white tho.

Only purple you should be wearing is lavender

No to square toed shoes, Jeans aren't the worst but for new years something a little dressier wouldn't hurt.

damn alright, no square toes. So standard rounded toe, black dress shoes is a go?

So for shirts, what would you go with as a standard? Assuming I wear jeans.

Thanks.

Brown is better than black almost always outside of formal occasions

Jeans are fine but make sure they are a dark indigo colour, the darker blue the better.

You want them to be slim not skinny fit if you are relatively dressing up

t_roy,

Ugh, FFS do not buy square toed shoes. Gross. Here's your budget wardrobe, fast -

http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse...iteActive=true

Buy this shirt in lilac. $60 but 40% off right now, so $36.

Jeans, go to Macy's and get Levi's 511s or 508s. Get a dark blue wash. The key here is dark slim denim. Like this in rigid dragon

http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/l...kie_check=true

Listed at $58 but it is always 25%-30% off so this should be running you max $44 or so. Figure $80 for those 2 items.

As for the shoes I have no idea. Go buy a cheap pair of brown shoes from DSW or something. NOT SQUARE TOED

Please don't spend much money on new shoes to wear to a club on NYE, you'll be on your feet all night and some drunk ******* WILL spill/step on them, so just wear the oldest/comfiest pair of dress shoes you've got. You don't wanna be the guy who meets a girl at 11:45 but can't dance with her because his feet are killing him.

Dont wear a purple shirt, it's the nut worst shirt color because every magician/artist/clown is wearing the color. It's also the color of the sexually frustrated (I do wear purple sweaters and socks though).

If you never wear another shirt color besides white and blue, you'll never make a mistake. This should be the starting approach and then go from there.

For shoes I'm looking at:

C&J Hallam:

Meermin Hiro suède Oxfords:

These will be my first ''good'' shoes. Thoughts?
12-28-2013 , 06:56 AM
I wouldnt buy C&Js as my first pair of shoes. I love mine (although I havent been able to wear them all that often) but from experience, you **** up your first 2-4 pairs (a lot has to do with the fact that you cant really rotate properly).
If you think you can take good care of the shoes then go ahead.

The Meermin are great and I would recommend you to buy them.
12-28-2013 , 08:58 AM
What do you think about this one instead of the C&J?

Never really heard of the brand.
I would stick to Meermin, Loake or Bexley (of less quality).

Then it's going to be this one.

Sorry for bumping a 3 yrs old post but this is pretty funny.

The whole thread is comedy gold to be honest.

It seems my opinion of dress shoes varies greatly from this thread, as I hate both brown and brogueing. I like most other colors, and suede is probably my favorite material with leather a distant second. I mostly wear black or charcoal and blue/dark blue suede shoes nowadays.
What are my next best options for dress shoes?
12-29-2013 , 06:06 PM
Imo you cant not have a pair of brown shoes.
Especially brown suede is the only suede versatile enough.
12-29-2013 , 09:02 PM
Yeah I don't see how you can hate all shades of brown (huge range of colors), it's the most versatile shoe. Honestly I would never wear black shoes except to like a funeral or something. I prefer various shades of brown nearly always
