Eek those two colors together are no bueno. Also are you sure it's pleated and not just creased?
06-18-2014 , 09:32 PM
Maybe it's creased, I don't know. Every single pants I've found look like that. What is a good colour with that jacket? Light silver, cream?
06-18-2014 , 09:38 PM
Forget the jacket and find a different color!
06-18-2014 , 09:44 PM
What store is that? Not a great color combo as others said. I don't hate the jacket but it's not super versatile so unless you have a million of them already I'd go for a different color.

Navy pants and white shirt with colorful socks would be a good look assuming your set on jacket.

Ya I imagine it's not a pleat but a crease, pleats happen at the belt. A lot of suits(and suit pants) are creased and will stay creased, which is fine
06-18-2014 , 10:06 PM
Also don't know what spurious is smoking but NEVER buy pants with pleats
06-18-2014 , 10:13 PM
Ya its creased then.

As for versatility I don't care. I'll buy other ones later.

As for the jacket, I'm not that set, but I am really tired of shopping, and it's a good price....Probably cause no one else wants it

I think i'll get some other pants tho. Color suggestions?

Don't love my white shirt either. I've lost 25-30lbs in last 1.5 years and although I even got that tailored 8 months ago, I've dropped more since then. Doesn't feel right. White shirts are easy enough to get.
06-18-2014 , 10:14 PM
If you're set on the color, I'd go with medium grey or navy pants

the ex told me go with grey pants and likes it. i'll go for that tomorrow.

didn't have time to do it tonight, just got what i put on hold. here's how it is with the white shirt.

add some fancy kicks and hope this does the trick.

That pic is better. Still not sure if I'm sold on the jacket, but you gotta wear what you like! Be comfortable in your own skin is key.
06-18-2014 , 10:41 PM
What company makes the best leather watches? Anybody have any suggestions? Willing to go up to $400.
06-19-2014 , 12:37 AM
Seiko, Citizen and Orient will have good choices in that price range. I posted a hhhnnggg one a couple pages back

Man this thread makes me self conscious about my dress style, don't know wtf Im doing but get by on my aesthetics thankfully. Prefer darker colored pants slim fit ideally and nice fitting dress shirts solid and patterned. Beyond that I'm lost
06-19-2014 , 12:42 AM
Are people going with Dockers chinos? Or is it better to spend some money on Bonobos? These are going to be for mostly bars during the weekends. Combo of upscale bars, sports bars, and the occasional dive bar.

Bull****, they can look absolutely great. I don't wear them personally but it's perfectly fine.

Honestly, the fit would look so much better with a navy blazer.
The color is not versatile and you obviously should care if it is.

Is it cool to just wear suit pants? Ie. I have a navy suit, can I just mix and match the pants?

If you're not wearing a tie your shirt should be a button down collar. Looks much better. Just a nit.

This is one of those issues where I have conflict -- I don't like pleats but they are functional. My rules on pleats are if you are heavier then you have to buy pants with pleats. If your BMI is normal / acceptable or better and you are buying normal or mid-level designer then no pleats. If you go top-shelf clothing then pleats are fine unless your short in which case never buy pleats.

You mentioned Shopper's Drug Mart so that means likely Ontario. That door and bathroom tile looks like Minto construction. Do you happen to live in a Minto building?

Wouldn't recommend it. Same goes for the jacket.

Toronto. Not Minto.

How are suit pants different than normal dress pants? If there's a difference I can't tell. I wear suit pants without the jacket on a regular basis, never vice versa though.

Honestly, I can only compare my suits to my Luxire pants and the cut is quite different, that is definitely to some extent due to the fact of two tailors.

It just seems weird to me given that a suit is a single clothing item. Would probably need to see pics.
06-19-2014 , 11:28 AM
The fabric on suit pants is often different than dress pants but not always. It really depends.
06-19-2014 , 12:07 PM
The main reason to no wear suit separates is to avoid wear being uneven on the suit and jacket. I don't think this is a huge concern, and if you don't it is fine. Nobody will realize and the know other reason not to is random elitism IMO.

This is where you have it completely backwards. Clothes don't match they go together.
You should not have to put in a lot of effort to build an outfit. A good dresser would not need to think about his outfit 95% of the time.

And if you are wearing clothes to impress girls you got it completely backwards anyways, but not gonna have that argument.

This post is so full of wrong. Navy blazer and khaki pants are what olds wear or children. Most people with style in their 20s and 30s won't touch that nonsense unless they dress extremely conservatively. You tell me why that looks good because I don't see it. It's an easy cop out to actually thinking about what looks good and stylish. Again, no one is going to think you are stylish or impressed by doing it. If you are going to wear navy, make sure it's a suit. Otherwise you are going with something extremely boring, and to me, ugly. But, I'm not surprised since you dress ridiculously conservative to begin with. I haven't worn a blazer and khakis since I was probably 15, and I have no desire to ever wear that.

And that second point is so incorrect. There's a reason we have this thread and other style forums exist. You should be constantly asking what looks good and what looks appropriate because someone who dresses well is constantly looking to dress better and often will push edges or try things that he isn't used to doing and will need advice. If you aren't asking questions, then you've established a certain outfit or you are George Clooney or Ryan Gosling and can get away with wearing whatever even if it looks weird.

A good dresser not thinking about his wardrobe 95% of the time isn't changing his outfits or isn't updating his wardrobe.

Also, wearing clothes to impress girls is definitely a valid reason among others. It shouldn't be your only reason or main reason, but it's not any issue to have that behind dressing to look more professional/older/mature.
