A bit beat up (it is a g-shock, right?) but hard to beat $18.

Not mine, so I take no responsibility for your being ripped off, defrauded in anyway, etc.
thanks for the link man, i've been looking for forums that have used sales for a couple weeks now, this is really helpful.

This !!

If I ever get my hands on a Portuguese (red gold) I'll never let it go.

However I must say that I just love that Zenith, nice, classy but not boring.

May I ask where you bought the Zenith?

That exact porto with the reserve and silver face is the #1 watch I want.

i felt the case was too thick for its size, a couple mm bigger and it would've been perfect. it didn't feel comfortable on my wrist. sold it for around 6k.

the zenith is bigger (44mm) and the el primero movement is world famous. i bought it online but will get the full zenith warranty.

another crappy pic

I got my orange monster..

It's great. I love the lume. I also ordered a g-shock, but not the one I posted earlier. It's a GW-M5600-BC. It's the old-school casio look, with modern tech (atomic/solar), a braclet, and reverse LCD.

I'll post a non-stock pic of it when I get it

IMO Zenith El Primero > IWC Portugese.

It's a nice watch but 37mm is not big at all. If you want it to look big you want at least 42mm. Also, I haven't ordered from the latter, but I'd feel comfortable just ordering here or here.

cxbxax, the IWC Port and Zenith are both beautiful.

I know a few things about watches but one thing I have yet to learn is what makes high end watches' movement "world class". If someone can explain that or link me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

To add to this, anyone recommend any books relating to watch movement. Wouldn't mind tinkering with some old pieces as a hobby but wouldn't know where to start.

I've read a lot of reviews about authenticwatches.com saying that the watches being sold are refurbished and the customer service being horrible.

Can anyone share any experiences they have had dealing with them?

not sure about other movements, but the el primero is still the only chronograph movement to achieve 36,000 beats an hour, or 10x/second. prolly the most famous chrono movement and could be the best, still.

i love rads! the black ceramic is not my thing tho...the specific model in your picture with the "pig" was only made in the J series, which will cost you 11k+ (not worth it imo)

I have a watch that's bought there...

I didn't buy if from them but from a forum... wasn't aware that the watch was from a so called grey dealer, then I'd never bought it.

If you decied to sell it you will have a very hard time doing that IMO... I've been trying to flipp mine for 3 months and still nothing.

And if you have it long enought to have it serviced, no one will do it for you (a real AD I meen).. Not here in Sweden any way.. they won't even resize the bracelet for you unless you have a certificate of authenticity and you won't have one if you buy from a grey dealer...

You'll end-up loosing more then you would profit from them in the first place.

Check out some forums, you can get a very good deal for a mint condition watch..

What do people think of Chinese made Tourbillons?

Considering the Swiss are over £10k, and some of the Chinese are sub £1k, I'd have thought the Chinese would be fugly or something butI've been staring at this two for a while, trying to work out what the catch could be.

Perpetual Tourbillon c£500

Vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Lhsg...eature=channel

Other option include a Sea Gull Chrono, but got to admit the Tourbillon looks like a lot of watch for the money. (decent strap and so on too)

I suppose the catch is that you're wearing a cheaper version of something that is pretty much only there to show how rich you are. If that's so, would I be better off getting a Sea-Gull or other rising brand of Chinese watch without the (really quite pointless but pretty) tourbillon?

Isn't the point in buying it in the first place that you want the tourbillon though?

hey i would like some advice please. My birthday is coming up soon and i asked my mum if she would buy me a nice watch and she said yes (i have become obsessed with watches mainly thanks to this thread). So the watch i really want is the one in the link for $1575 (£965) on the grey market. The cost to buy this watch from an OD anywere near were i live is about £1800 ($2940). I dont think my mum would pay £1800. My questions are; 1. Should i get this watch on the grey market or get a different cheaper one from an OD? 2. Is authentic watches the best site to buy from? 3. Has anyone had any experiances buying grey market watches? 4. Is it better to buy a quartz watch from the grey market as there is less likely to be any problems and so no warrenty issues?
