I deleted an editorial comment about Tim LaHaye and I'll avoid one here:

Youree Harris aka Miss Cleo, the TV Psychic, dead at age 53 on July 26, 2016, in Palm Beach County, Florida.

I'm devastated. Why so young?

Ouch. Who's going to hell for this comment? You for making it, or me for laughing at it?

One thing I've noticed here: seems like the only people y'all mock and ridicule after they die are Christians! This crowd probably rooted for the lions back in Roman days.

Yeah, but not much to root for after they traded Bobby Layne to the Steelers.

I've never heard of Miss Cleo or Youree Harris, but I Psychic sounds like dark magic to me.

Also, since almost every one who died itt was Christian it's not too surprising that the subset that is mocked was also Christian.

Ah yes, the great Bobby Layne. Old school Texas badass, the best kind.

No, but I did openly cheer for Zod in Superman II (I was 12).

Maybe because if we mock Muslims we're more likely to be murdered?

Does the inclusion of the question mark somehow make this an ok/not racist thing to write in your mind? ... somehow...

??

Uh, perhaps I should have used the word xenophobic instead... since Muslim isn't technically a race.

Muslim isn't a race or a country. It is, however, a religion which people have notably been murdered for mocking.

And personally, I mock Christians more often than I mock Muslims, since I come across them more often. Probably the same reason why Christians are being mocked here. All religions deserve to be mocked though.

On this I agree with you completely!

What is the proper word to use then, for prejudice against a religion? Can't think of it off the top of my head.

Racist and xenophobic are the words most internet warrior liberals would toss at you for that statement, but you are right that both of them are technically not the correct words to use in this context.

Googled it and apparently there isn't a set word for it. We just talk about religious discrimination of intolerance.

Hummm... I guess that's why people just call Trump racist and xenophobic. Those words do apply correctly to his rhetoric towards Latino immigrants, but apparently don't apply correctly to his rhetoric on Muslims.

Hummm...

Oh well...not what this thread, or even this subforum, is supposed to be about so I'll end my slight derail (although also a continuation of what Kioshk began ,) here.

Jerry Doyle, who played Garibaldi on Babylon 5, and hosted a radio talk show, dies at 60.

Is there some sort of standard of fame that needs to be met to be mentioned in this thread? I'm not trying to start trouble, but... who the hell is Jerry Doyle? (without looking at the link, obviously, and even then I don't know who he is)

Apparently he was a big celeb in ChipWrecked's world.

Probably ChipWrecked is a big Babylon 5 fan.

I think of it as a record of, as well as major celebs, a place to see the passing of people you won't get word of everywhere else. Yeah I was a Bab5 fan. Mea culpa.

Great! I saw them too, but in the late 90s. They weren't exactly my thing, but I could appreciate it. I really liked the tribute comp "Your Invitation To Suicide" from 1994; it had a lot of bands I liked on it, which is why I got the album, which led to seeing their show.

I looked him up on IMDB. He'd been acting since the 80s, yet I'd never seen him in a single thing.
