Mash movie was pretty good, I'll say that.

MASH was ok. At times it was quite maudlin and people prentending to be drunk isn't funny to me anyway. It had its moments and characters though.

The movie was very good.

I've always found acting drunk to be brutal in movies, even in stuff like Family Guy. Always misses the mark I feel.

Absolutely.

Not only that, but I can't think of another show that lost so many major characters/actors, and yet not only carried on without missing a beat, but in some cases, the replacement actors and/or characters were even better than the originals.

Harry Morgan/Col. Potter >>>>McLean Stephenson/Lt. Col. Henry Blake
David Ogden Stiers/Major Charles Winchester>>>Larry Linville/Major Frank Burns

And even debatably...

Mike Farrell/B.J. Hunnicutt>>>Wayne Rogers/Trapper John McIntyre

MASH was great and groundbreaking television in its time. Don't know how well it would hold up for someone growing up today though.

I detested MASH. It comforted millions of viewers with the idea that the good guys will always outsmart the bad guys and win in the end. This never happens, at least in wars it doesn't.

Mash used to come on right after Monday Night Raw when I was a little kid. As soon as that music fired up with the helicopter flying by, I'd go running! I've never seen an episode of it, but a 7 year old's impression remains in me.

Did you even ever watch the show? The "bad guys" for the most part were the U.S. Army bureaucracy. Rarely was an episode about the enemy in the war, and when it was, it was usually to demonstrate that war is hell on both sides.

Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani is dead, former president of Iran. Allegedly, he wasn't the worst of the lot. Faint praise seems called for.

RIP Dick Gautier

I always thought his portrayal as Hymie the robot (Get Smart) was one of the funniest things I ever saw. I also loved "When Things Were Rotten" and found it to be the funniest TV show ever but it was ahead of its time so it only lasted one short season. Mel Brooks later made it into a movie (Men in Tights) which wasn't as good as the TV show.

Dick Gautier, remember him well. He had a way about him, that's too bad. He was on game shows a lot too.

The author of the greatest, most shocking, and controversial "horror" movies of its time, The Exorcist, has recently died.

RIP William Peter Blatty.

Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka - famous wrestler from when I was a kid and apparently in the news since for allegedly killing his gf in 1983.

i saw superfly snuka wrestle in the mid 80's in the high school gym across the street from my house in podunk town oklahoma. also reminds me of hacksaw jim duggan, jake the snake roberts, and the von erich family
guessing snuka had a serious case of CTE that eventually showed the unfortunate results.
