What was with Sutton's persistent man-perm anyway? Lol from the looks of that early photo maybe to distract attention away from those ears.

Back in the day when someone one would ask “who’s pitching tonight?”, if the answer was “the Q-Tip”, you knew who they meant.

RIP Hank Aaron

More baseball and this time one of the absolute greatest ever. He will always be the HR king to me and as a kid he was easily one of my all-time favorites. As great as he was he always seemed to be in the shadow of guys like Mays and Mantle but probably because he was a year or two behind them. His longevity and consistency as a player were exceptional.

He’s known for the homers but he was also one of the all-time greats.

RIP Hank

Too bad to hear about Hank Aaron. I was young when he broke Ruth's record.

It wasn't until some years later I heard of what he went through on the run-up to the record being broken.

All class. A great person as well as a great player.

We're running out of Hall-of-Famers. Even worse, we're running out of class acts. R.I.P Henry.

Damn, this is brutal. Love Hammerin Hank.

He just got the vaccine recently. (Not at all implying that's related)

My next door neighbor used to talk baseball with me when I was a kid. He knew I liked reading about baseball stats, so one day, around 1964, he showed me how Aaron would break Ruth's record. I didn't think it possible.

One of my favorite sports memories from my childhood is watching on TV Hank Aaron break Babe Ruth’s homerun record. RIP to a legend.

I used to love scouring stats in my (First Edition!) Baseball Encyclopedia when I was a kid. I just pulled up Hanks Baseball Reference page and damn this guy was so consistently good for so long it's mind boggling. All Star every year from 1955 to 1975. That's a pretty good run!

Surprising to me (heard on ESPN today), stole 20+ bases six times. Three Gold Gloves. (IIRC)

I know he was a terrific hitter, both for power and average, but didn't know about the other aspects.

i think i heard on the radio today he didn't miss a game due to being on the IR in his entire 23 year career.

first all time extra base hits and RBIs, third all time games played, fourth all time runs, fourth all time runs created, hit over .300 14 times (.290 or better two other times), over 100 RBI 11 times (in the 90s five other times), over 100 runs 15 times (95 one other time), OPS over 1.0 five times (over 0.9 12 other times). lead the league in total bases eight times. his 1959 and 1963 seasons were filthy.

RIP to a true legend and one of the better human beings we'll ever be fortunate to have walk among us.
