Day Four
"As Joy was swept up into the great swirling mass of nothingness, her faithful companion howled in Pain and Loss and Anger.
It was all Love could do to not immediately give up. His heart was being torn apart, because it belonged to her....
The remaining Avatars were incensed, and fought their hardest, at the center of the battle. But Love was still lost near the edge of the Storm and couldn't fight his way back toward the others.
He made one last valiant attempt, and she sang to him in order to evoke the most powerful Celestial magic. But Love could barely hear the words over the violence and the howling of the wind.
The heroic defender charged onward, cutting down all the shadow beasts in his path with his longsword, which now began to glow red with passion, love, and loss.
The hero lost his footing as the ground began to break under his feet. He stumbled, and attempted to fly over the battlefield to return to the others, but the wind itself tossed him backward, toward the swirling nothingness.
He held on mightily to a chunk of bedrock which was being slowly torn apart and up pulled up into the sky. His sword vanished into the chaos that approached.
In this moment, he began to lose all Hope. And all the Joy that was in his heart also began to fade. His heart continued to beat for her, but she was beyond his sight, beyond his reach, and even her memory was fading from his mind.
Nothing remained of her. And as the memories of Joy finally vanished from his Memory, he began to slip.
There was nothing left to fight for, now. His entire reason for existing had been utterly destroyed. Tears rolled down from his eyes, and vanished into the void.

Night Four
"In spite of our losses, we pressed onward. One of the Celestials, a great warrior of unparalleled strength, once known as the most feared and fearless Berserker in all of history, a conqueror of nations, stepped forward to bolster our crumbling second line.
A master of the spear, the sword, the axe, and hammer, the scars he carried with him each represented a long forgotten battle. The memories would fade, but the wounds remained. The pain remained.
In his time he was considered a hero to his people, and a villain to all others. There was much darkness in his heart, much pain buried deep within. He endured everything, every loss- The loss of his mother and father, the loss of his home, the loss of his beloved, Hope.
She never loved him back, but that changed nothing. Still he cared for her. Her loss was the most painful of all. He tried to bury the pain, but he could no longer. There was no joy in his heart, only loss. There was no hope in his heart, only pain. No love, only retribution.
His entire life was a history of pain and agony, everyone he ever loved was lost, or had turned against him in his time of need. Perhaps that is why he turned to warfare and conquest, to numb the wounds he carried. If he could only feel pain, so would the entire world.
But he was not beyond redemption. Through struggle he learned comraderie, through conquest he learned to defend himself and those he cared about, and through pain he learned to endure. Finally, near the end of his long life, he learned to have a reason to fight. He learned love, and he learned peace.
Finally at peace, he knew he could endure the pain without ever needing to lift the sword again. And then he was called to this higher duty and purpose.
In this struggle, he remembered all the things that he would fight for, and he tried to forget all the pain inside, and focus only on the task at hand.
Amazingly he fought, bravely he endured. The shadow beasts slashed at him, clawed at him, tore his flesh apart, and still he remained focused. At last, the loss of Hope tore his heart apart, and it released all the pain and loss inside.... he went berserk.
He went numb. He could no longer feel. He became the embodiment of hopelessness and hollowness. He was no longer Pain. He became Despair.
He glowed with otherworldy might. No pain could reach him now. No wound could slow him. Not even death could stop him. He fought even as he was mortally wounded.... this was the end of all things.
This was the end of Pain."
