Define widely available. We know that not all states will opt-in, or some will opt-out. And as of right now Stars can't get back into the US afaik. Somehow FTP could given the DOJ deal they have. Maybe party could?

And prolly like 6-12 months before a hand is dealt after passage.

We aren't sure a bill exists, which could be a part of the problem. All we know is that Reid and Kyl have talked.

There are rumors of an internet security bill in the near future but there is no guarantee that such a broad bill is even a "can't miss" opportunity.
What are the chances the cyber-security bill IS THIS BILL, i.e., it's the 2nd UIGEA with online poker wrapped up in it, Kyle's final major bill that he creates before he leaves office and he insures it passes with Reid's help?

M.M. HEARS - Will there be a “fix” attached to a must-pass bill this session of Congress (perhaps to the payroll tax bill) to allow for legalized online gambling? Churchill Downs on Friday said it has acquired a poker fan Web site which led some on the Hill to speculate it was anticipating a legal entry in the market.

Notice it says "perhaps the tax cut." There will be other sweats this year.

any rumors or reports indicating whether Harry Reid has used his 'one time' on this?

I think we are certain very meaningful discussions between Kyl and Reid have taken place. I dont think we know there is a done deal or actual bill ready for attachment.

So what about the Barton Bill moving forward for a vote in the House? Any chance of this?

Notice that it was also just a posing question with another quoted question. It's more or less just more unsourced statements to hang on to. Oh well, I really do applaud everyone who searches article after article looking for any kind of insight as to when/how legalized ipoker is going to come about. Some day it will happen, I'll agree with that.

This will be THE sweat imo, it is unlikely we get on the tax cut at this point.

What are the timetables on the next few options for an attachment? When would cybersecurity go through tentatively?

It says that Tom Ridge is giving testimony at the hearing tomorrow. Tom Ridge is also a part of FairPlayUSA. This is probably a good coincidence.

So, now a possible cybersecurity sweat. Online gambling consumer protection seems to be much more relevant to this bill.

The lobbying plus the letters and phone calls to Congress show how important the movement is.

The social media outreach demonstrates to Congress the fact that advocates of online poker are active and passionate. As state casino biills are often seen as being pushed by industry lobbyists, our efforts to show real public support for our position are very beneficial -- far more so than they would be for a group with a recognized support base.

Social media outreach also shows lawmakers that pro-poker Americans are far more active and passionate than anti-poker Americans. In fact, many FB walls don't have a single anti-poker post. They see objective evidence on their own Facebook walls and Twitter feeds. It's great that it does, as it runs directly contrary to their preconceptions of public opinion.

We are hearing a ton of positive feedback on the social media efforts on Capitol Hill.

The big difference is the payroll tax is a must pass. Is cybersecurity bill a must pass? I don't think so. It's a double sweat IMO. Is IPoker included? If yes, then will it pass?

Just wait until Fox news or CNN breaks a story that an igaming bill has passed, then you'll see the flood of anti-poker posts on FB.

I can hear it now...... The queen of England woke to find her maid placed the toilet paper over instead of under, Kyl saw 2 white clouds in the sky, Obama sneezed not once, not twice but three times wait for it................................................ .................................................. ............................

It just wasn't the bill to attach Ipoker to, HOWEVER this fall there will be a bill (HR6969) to legalize all Americans to take off work excused if their dog has diarrhea, "We are optimistic that it will now get attached to that".

This trend seems to be repeating it's self non stop. At the end of the last year we heard how confident they were that early this spring there would be chance. Before that it was how confident they were about last years lame duck. It's just over and over again the bottom line is there will never be a "right bill" or "right time" and the bottom line is also that if they really wanted to they could stick it in almost any where they wanted. There just has to be a desire for them to do it.

As someone who does particpate regularly in the daily action I'm starting to agree it doesn't matter and that when they are darn good and ready they will do something and not a moment sooner.

If this was a 10-15% chance the cycber bill is like a .001% first you have to get the American public to not get into a uproar because they can't steal movies and music any more which in turn they threaten to not vote for any politician who goes with it.
