In general this is true. Non-fiction or short stories (less than 30 min to read) are solid and worth it because you can gain some knowledge or get quick entertainment. Fiction pretty much sucks though.

This is the only, but quite notable, exception. Harry Potter is hypermegaelite and anyone that says otherwise has some lol tastes in literature as they are without a doubt the best 7 books ever written.
On another note, I dominated accelerate reader until 2nd grade at which point I had read all the non-fiction books in the library. I then dominated it again in 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade as I changed schools each year and found new non-fiction books. Once I ran out of those the reading dominance and vocabulary decreased and is still decreasing to this day.
