Disagree with a full change, maybe 20-25 years.

Some picks were based on a long term idea, guys who had shortened careers due to death/injury/misc would have gone much earlier if it was one night only

Which heel run are you talking about?

The late 70s-1984 Sgt. Slaughter was a great heel.

The Iraqi sympathizer heel was just a gimmick that worked great because of his history. But, he was essentially retired by then and way past his prime.

Slaughter and Pat Patterson had the WON match of the year in 1981.

Anyone have any good suggestions on good WWE PPV's from 1990-2007 or so? Netflix has a ton of them and this thread has sparked some interest. I've seen all the WresteMania's - 18 or so but any other suggestions would be appreciated.

+1

I remember being shocked that he was getting a title shot, and even more shocked when he won it from the Warrior(due to Macho Man's interference). I never ever bought him as anything more than a midcarder as a kid, although I probably couldn't tell you why exactly.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's my turn. Pick coming in 15 or less.

The 30 year was a rough guideline, not a set number of years. It's more just that you're drafting a guy's entire career.

Ah well I'm clearly talking about 1991. Even as champ he wasn't pushed very hard. He definitely didn't seem like a threat to Hogan at WMVII

btw other than the NBA drafts(and maybe the NFL draft) this has been my favorite draft so far....everyone seems to be really into it, and we haven't had to wait long at all for picks. If we keep this up, we may be able to go further than 10 rounds.

As a Bret mark King of the Ring 1993 is an awesome show. You get three excellent matches from him, with Perfect/Hart being the show stealer.

Summerslam 1992 is another personal favorite for similar reasons. Warrior/Savage was also very good at that show.

We're going to be drafting Mickey Rourke if we go further than 10 rounds with all the doubles we have in place.

I used to love Survivor Series when they actually started 4 on 4 and guys got eliminated one by one. I remember one of them where they brought the survivors back at the end for another match. I think Hogan and Warrior were the two final survivors if I remember correctly.

Summerslam 98 was pretty solid, it had a Taker/Austin main event, HHH/Rock ladder match for the IC title, and I believe it had some sort of hardcore tag match between Mankind/Kane and the New Age Outlaws....also Dlo Brown vs Val Venis for the European title....haven't seen it in forever but it was one of my favorites as a kid.

Your Mom,

I would for sure be in that College Football draft

The college football draft's definitely an interesting idea, but it sounds a little unwieldy. I mean you can't possibly have enough rounds to fill out a full team and it's going to look pretty weird when one team has 4 defensive players, 4 o-linemen, and a running back, but no QB while another team has offensive skill positions only except for a DE and a FS. Also, you'd still almost have to include coaches since it's so hard to tell how the team would do without them and even if you're only doing a peak draft for one season so recruiting/talent development etc. aren't important, you might get through 7 or 8 picks before an actual player is taken.

An NFL draft was already done and full teams were drafted. So, yes, it is possible to have enough rounds.

Holy Jesus, really? How long did that take? It seems like at the very least if you're going to do something like that you need to really limit the number of participants or else it's going to stretch out so long that a ton of people will lose interest.

I would think we would need 26 rounds. You'd have 22 starters, punter, kicker, coach, and venue/fans.

I love Summerslam 98 as well, one of my favorite PPV's I can ever remember seeing along with KOTR with Foley/Taker and Austin/Undrafted.

Joe is who I suggested to aejohnson and who we talked about ultimately deciding on JBL. Thoughts if that would have been a better pairup with Vince/Goldberg?
