Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Time Limit
8 hours during prime time (noon-midnight EST) with the commish being able to autoskip anyone who he thinks is taking advantage of the rules and taking too much time (i.e. if you are online, then you are expected to pick and not make us wait just because you have a few hours left on your time clock).

Teams 21
Rounds 10, with double picks in rounds 6-10
  • Reverse Snake
  • You cannot trade one of your double picks. You must trade them both at the same time so they remain double picks.
  • You can draft any wrestler that wrestled for a major organization within the United States. This will be a very loose rule and hopefully you guys just stay within the spirit of the draft while making a selection.
  • You can only draft one person at a time. You are getting the human being, not a character. You can choose what character you want in your write-up.
  • You can draft any wrestler, manager, announcer, etc; within the wrestling industry. It will be up to you to argue why this person is valuable to your organization.
  • You will be drafting to run a 30-year organization. Longevity is important. If you draft someone that dies two years into his career, then he will die in two years here.
  • All wrestlers will be entering the beginning of their prime, no matter what era they were from. If they were popular in 1972, it is assumed that they will be just as popular now. The same goes with strength and ability.
  • You will be expected to do a write-up with every pick. We’re not asking you to write a book, but please use some effort. It really makes the draft better for everyone.
  • Good luck and have fun.

I think it can probably be argued that Stone Cold made the WWF more money than any other wrestler has, no?

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Stone Cold = too one dimensional imo. He also owes a ton of his credit to Vince, whereas a guy like Flair could succeed with any storyline.

You gotta get Vince somehow now, if only to recreate that scene where he ambushes him in the hospital.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

PM sent to Sarcastic Rat.

Austin owes Vince some credit.

Hogan owes Vince every bit of credit.

What can you say? Khali matches are instant classics. Neck chop, choke bomb, inaudible yell, pin.

Hogan was wayyyyyy over in the AWA too. He's becoming the biggest star in wrestling no matter what.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I personally would have had a tough choice with pick 1, but I think I also would have leaned Stone Cold's way.....he was the greatest entertainer during the best years of the WWF.....best Austin moment for me: when the Rattlesnake was born:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGM1o8CDLs8

Honorable mention: When Stephanie McMahon was about to be sacrificed by the Undertaker/Ministry of Darkness, and then the glass broke and Austin stunned everybody en route to saving his worst enemies daughter....couldn't find a video of it, was on an episode of RAW during the glory days.

Honorable mention 2: His entire feud with Bret Hart, one of the most underrated feuds ever.

in the 1980s, you're 100% right. In our hypothetical league which begins in 2009 where pro wrestling is already established and nobody has ever heard of Hogan....I'm not so sure.

Remember we get the wrestler, not the wrestler's career.
