Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Our short list has been raped (Booker T, Rey Mysterio), but I'll try to make a pick when it gets to us.

Rat is gone until like 9 ET, so if the rest of our list is gone, I may have to wait.

I think you really really really overestimate Vince in this regard. I have a really hard time looking at the WWE's recent booking history and giving them much credit at all. They just have a big enough core fan base that they're somewhat bulletproof.

FWIW- I think Hardy is worse, for a few reasons, than random backflip guy.

Not a huge Tazz fan but I do kinda like how he fits in with your roster. I also missed most of his best work in ECW.

Tazz was a BAMF in ECW. Loved him when he was the human suplex machine, I was hoping people forgot about him and we could pick him up in round 4-5.

Sure it is, especially when I was basically signed on to do the write-ups for each pick.

Also, he's in Canada; I'm in US...it's not free to text, otherwise we could get it figured out that way.

they should've had Goldberg beat Hogan in a non title match on Nitro and then had Hogan duck Goldberg and play up the "hes scared of him" storyline. Maybe even have Hogan get intentionally DQed/counted out in a few title matches. And then have a "no DQ/no countout" match at Starrcade to finally put Goldberg over.

that would've been such a sick trio

It's nice getting up after noon, having breakfast, catching up on this thread, and nearly having it be your pick.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I'm not too enamored with the Honky Tonk Man pick, either. Honky was a one-trick pony, people came out to watch him get beat. Granted, he got them to do that better than most could have, but once he did get beat, he pretty much faded away. He's not a good wrestler, and I don't know how much there is to do with him.

I don't know how you can really blame Warrior for this. It's basically the same as every WCW Hogan match except they somehow tried to make it stretch about 10 minutes longer than normal which made it go from "typical boring Hogan match" to "extra boring Hogan match".

Don't have time for a long writeup here. I actually got advice from someone via PM to take this guy in round 2....before that he wasn't even on my radar, but after researching some more, I really like him.....

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

BTW, trying to say Jeff Hardy's as good as RVD in this draft is ridiculous. For one thing, Hardy's character is specifically designed so that he's never going to be 100% over as a face with males over the age of 16 which is kinda a huge portion of wrestling fans. Maybe not of WWE fans today which allows him to be a solid main eventer at the moment, but he'll never be as over as RVD in his prime.

Also, I haven't watched much of his current run, but all my memories of Jeff Hardy involve a ****-ton of botched spots. RVD may be a "spot monkey" to some extent, but those spots are all well-timed and well-executed and fit into the flow of the match. Hardy just looks like he's randomly throwing **** against the wall and hoping that he ends up with at least one spot that looks cool before the match is done. RVD's multiple finishers and incredible leaping ability (Van Terminator anyone?) also make him a superior high-flyer to Jeff Hardy. On in-ring ability, it's really not even close between the two of them.

Christian

I never laughed harder at wrestling than I did the day after he turned on Edge, and this was his intro music:

Sick how many times Foley/Brody won that award....also didn't know that they named it after Brody(I'm assuming out of respect to him after his death).
