So he asks his nonna if she ever heard of these two guys(he hadn't)
The kid is a Sox fan, and never heard of Jim Rice? Has he never heard of Fisk, Yaz, or Ted Williams?

Nice story, though. Every story I've ever heard about Rice playing golf is, "He can hit that ball a mile."

Too bad his baseball swing looked more like a golf swing in his later years, or he'd be in Cooperstown by now.

I'm not sure how big a sox fan he is but yeah I was busting his balls about that too. As for Rice, I think it was his eyesight that did him in at the end of his career. He played around with wearing glasses but it wasn't working as I recall.

Perhaps we could say "if Lasik was discovered 20 years earlier Rice would be in the HOF".

P.S. Wish me a Happy 58th today.

You guys getting scared yet?
The Sox aren't going to play sub .500 ball the rest of the year and the Yankees aren't going to win 10 in a row every month.

7.5 games is still quite a cushion.

Lmao, that was some play by Senor Tavarez.

And Manny attempted that outfield cutoff play again last night but the throw was a little high. Between Manny's signature play and Tavarez bowling for dollars wtf are they teaching them kids down in the Dominican?

So, Sox fans, are the Giants the most embarrassingly bad team you've ever seen or just the worst this year?

I'm glad I'm a Sox fan cause I think if Pedroia went 5-5 2B HR 5 RBI against my team I might go on life tilt.

Watching it now. Wow @ "I think he lost some hair when he fell" Orsillo could barely contain himself after that one.

You'll notice he didn't say a word for a solid 45 seconds. He was too busy trying not to laugh.

why is dave roberts a cult hero, but nobody ever mentions bill mueller with the same type of love? is it because that was the only thing roberts did in a red sox uniform, while mueller had a bigger body of work?

edit: just to make sure i wasn't imagining it, i asked some fans i know "who knocked in roberts after he stole second", 1 out of 5 knew it was mueller, 2 people guessed kevin millar, the other 2 guessed trot nixon

Everyone loves Bill Mueller. He just got a job as the highest paid hitting coach in MLB this week too.

mueller was one of my favorite sox when he was around. always loved him. only guy i ever heard of winning a batting title from the 9 hole. glad to see he's got a good gig with the dodgers (too bad it's with gump little, but who knows, maybe they get along).
