This isnt high school or even college, or the NFL in the 70s. They aren't underpaid.

It might be harsh, but they are making a decision with eyes wide open.

I talked to a Mom of a star OL at ASU who went on to play pro. While in college, his Mom said his plan was to play 5 years in the NFL and get out of the league due to the health concerns.

This was in the mid-2000s. Players in the 2020s surely know the risk but decide to play.

Spoiler:
Once he was in the league, the lure of a paycheck must've been too much as he played for 7

NFL player contracts are lacking compared to what the league is now generating with half the states having legal sports betting.

If either of you are talking about me...I think you are wrong.

I am 100% for postponing/cancelling the game.

I am just saying the players arent underpaid and made the choice to play in the NFL themselves.

Then do what MLB/NBA have done to get contracts on their side and strike.

Yes, Pope I was talking to you. I do think they are underpaid and the NFLPA sucks a hairy bean bag for shitty negotiating.

Not-so-quiet quitting.

Good for the players for making that decision.

eta: Years ago my boss and friend dropped dead at his desk. There was no way that any of us were going to do any work the rest of the day after that--regardless of what anybody may have told us. Glad to see the coaches backed the players tonight.

Agreed. Him and booger have killed it so far.

Booger and the 2 others in studio with him had an extremely difficult job to talk when there was so little know about the situation. I know espn is going to get heat for showing so many commercials but man it was brutal watching that hour immediately following the injury. I’m not sure what espn should have done - commercials looks greedy but forcing those 3 to talk for 45 minutes was difficult to watch too.

Is what Van Pelt just said what most others are thinking? NFL said 5 minutes and the players said FU?

That’s what it looked like. The ambulance left the field and the players were starting to warm up when McDermott, Taylor and the officials got together. After talking for a couple of minutes, they decided to head to the locker rooms with their teams.

I didn't get the impression there was an uprising. Seemed to me that the NFL said "the game will resume in 5 minutes so get loose." Nobody moved to go get loose. Then it became a movement as nobody moved.
