i kind of agree with assani in that anderson ****in silva was fighting so every minute was tense as hell

Obviously the roles aren't completely analogous, but I think it should be clear what I'm getting at - when a PPV main event ends because one guy effectively allows himself to get tagged clean, that ain't good business...even if it results in a change of title holders.

Yeah, it's good for discussion and "WTF?!" fallout, but that can only last for so long.

because he wasn't "letting himself get tagged"...have you guys watched Anderson Silva fight before? What exactly did you see him doing tonight that he doesn't usually do except for get clipped by a big punch instead of narrowly avoid it like he usually does?

Silva vs Maia was worse because maia really had no chance to do anything to stop it.

Assani was right about one thing though, the rest of the card was a blast. Great night until Silva decided to not give a ****.

the difference is his reaction

he doesn't give a ****

he wants time off blah blah ect...

he 'fought' bad and he should feel bad

Wouldn't say he didn't give a **** but the fight certainly wasn't great.

Yes, once upon a time, he clowned a reality TV show winner and gave birth to an all time .gif, but it's still a ****ing terrible way to lose a fight.

This is different from the other fights like Maia's. Silva came out not giving a **** and barely throwing shots/kicks. He didn't look old or slow, and he made CW miss plenty. He basically refused to fight.

if you're not trolling calling this a GOAT level fight might be the stupidest thing i've ever read. this fight sucked ass and was the last time i ever pay money to watch silva fight.

yeah, silva does his guard drop begging the guy to hit him shtick in his fights but he's never done it to the extent he did it in this one. his offense was more or less non-existent and when he got hit the first time his reaction was to feign injury then go back into float like a butterfly mode? he deserved to be knocked unconscious for that petulant bull****

let silva go teach people to fight or whatever noble crap he said he wanted to do in his post-match interview. fine. a 7 year title reign is ****ing incredible and he's solidly the GOAT fighter, but now that the reign's over and now that he's lost and especially in the way he lost, i don't have even the remotest interest in watching a 38 year old half-ass the rest his contractual obligation

He disrespected maia by bringing a guitar into the cage

It was the extent he used the taunts. He has never done that for an entire fight before. He did it for a few rounds against DM after he hurt him real bad. He usually does the hands down stuff then counters with high accuracy short punches. Tonight he didn't even think about punching Weidman one time, it was almost like he wanted to get knocked out for some reason.

Silva does that clowning around all the time, usually to try to put his opponent off their game and usually it works very well. This time it seemed that Silva was the one getting severely tilted by the fact Weidman did not deviate one bit from his game plan. Silva certainly appeared to be getting worked up about Weidman not launching into a flurry of punches and playing into his hands and the longer it went the more tilted he got as his opponent not reacting is something he isn't used to. At least that's my take.

damn too bad GSP didn't step up and make the SUPERFIGHT happen before this did

might not get paaaaaaiiiiiiid as much now

it'll still be a big fight, but not quite the same thing when they're both unbeatable champs, etc

i don't get what you guys are talking about. anderson seems to be throwing punches and weidman is just dodging them. don't see silva doing nothing at all.

he reacted differently afterwards because he lost(whereas the reaction you are used to seeing is him after winning).

Some athletes cry after losses, others are more composed. That doesn't mean he wasn't trying or any other LOL notions like that.

He "fought bad"??? He fought just like he always fights!!!! Imagine that instead of Weidman landing those shots, Silva made an amazing dodge and then KOed Weidman...would you still be saying that he fought bad? You guys are just being insanely resulted oriented here. Silva fights that way for 16 straight wins and hes the GOAT; He fights that way and loses and everyone thinks he wasn't trying.
