Love my fellow PSU alum, but Machida won 2 of those rounds and the other could have gone either way.

Especially with HFA in favor of Machida, no way did I ever think Davis would win a decision unless it was super obvious.

Cheering for The Korean Zombie!

Zombie is as slow as his nickname implies.

Bad way to lose. He would have gone all out to try to win.

lyoto should have won, but it's not a truly horrible decision. First two rounds were reasonably close imo. And Lyoto does this to himself a little bit by rarely/never pushing the action. There's something to be said for 'looking like you are winning'.

I'd have scored it for Lyoto, but this wasn't a massive fraud.

I didn't watch it but did Machida do his usual run away for 4:50 of the round, throw a couple of strikes that connect, and hope to get awarded the round crap? He won a dodgy score last time so no sympathy. It's one thing to plan on counter attacking but Machida does absolutely nothing if his opponent isn't mindlessly charging in.

Otherwise a good win by Perosh - good to see one of the pioneers of Australian MMA still at it and still getting the wins.

You're putting it in biased language, but kind of. I'd have scored it 30-27 Lyoto, but the first two were close. He did the Lyoto thing where he lets his opponent throw a much higher volume than he does, and very few of them land. He did out-strike Phil on the balance, but it was reasonably close and Phil was the one moving forward and throwing (mostly missing) with a lot of volume. And Phil got a couple of cheap last 30 seconds takedowns which probably won him the fight.

Machida wanted the fight on their feet and he got it. When he got it, he just didn't know what to do other than try to frustrate Davis and draw him into making a dumb move. Davis stayed smart and wasn't really tricked. But Machida landed enough strikes and Davis missed enough to take the fight imo.

Davis said something at the press conference about Machida being promised a shot at the title after Jones fights Gustafsson. Then you have Glover Teixeira who could be worthy of one if he beats Ryan Bader. Davis might have to wait a couple of years for that title shot which is good given how little experience he has in UFC. He could move up as high as 5th on the LH rankings though due to winning here.

On another note, Aldo's foot might have been broken during the fight. Could explain his lack of leg kicks.

tweeted this last night, think it sums up Machida fairly well...

Machida is the old man who set-mines all day long, always feels like hes capable of so much more than waiting for opponent mistakes #UFC163

Aldo almost certainly broke his foot in the first round. Makes his win even more impressive imo. Look at his right foot.

He claimed at the press conference he hurt it on the very first kick he threw, which is why he didn't throw another one the entire fight.

He was limping badly once the adrenaline wore off and he was walking back to the locker room. Also there were two kicks I think. He caught Zombie on the way out of an exchange at a weird angle, then he threw one squared up, he might have broke it on the first one and felt it on the second.

Did not buy the PPV. JA/KZ and LM/PD didn't crack the wallet. Prelims were pretty good tho. But the Perosh/Magalhaes 14 sec KO??? Whodathunk?

FOX Sports 1 gonna have UFC Fight Night 26!

Sonnen somehow gets a main event match against another guy on his way out (Shogun Rua). Rua has been 3-4 in his last 7 fights. Seems that Sonnen is hanging on in the UFC just based on Ali wannabe trash talk. Wonder if Rua will get released for losing. 3-5 is hard to justify keeping around.

Undercards have Alistair Overeem and Urijah Faber. Big Faber fan here.

Geez I half near expected those guys to start making out in the middle of the ring. Too much glove tapping instead of face smashing.
