The hype around Lennay dying is what got him Heisman mentions when he was not even in the conversation before.

If that story doesnt go national he is just another mlb on a team that gets smoked by a real program.

It's kind of a shame Eddie Lacy and Te'o weren't drafted by division rivals so we could get two games a year of Te'o laying on his back clutching at shoe strings. However, I suspect plenty of NFL RB's will make Te'o look foolish.

I doubt he'll do much better against DMC or Jamaal Charles.

He led the nation in INTs as the captain MLB of a college team that has every game of their season on national television in an undefeated season that goes to the National Championship game that they haven't been to in decades. He would have been hyped with or without the story. We just got a whole lot extra.

He was also 56th in the nation in tackles per game. I will never understand how we just overlook that stat. There are 128 D1 teams and he was about average in tackles. He had 7 picks. Denard handed him 2 on a silver platter and another one of them was tipped right into his hands. He didn't have numbers worthy of being a heisman candidate. Luke Kuechly was 5x the LB Te'o was. I hate the undefeated argument. There have been numerous teams that have been undefeated with out a linebacker as a heisman candidate. The hoax was a major reason he was the center of the football world which lead to ESPN falling in love and then his heisman nom.

As long as he's not expected to get to the edge, cover anyone, blitz in a 3-4 defense, or have to get off a block, he's going to be great! What could possibly go wrong?

Tackles per play would be okay to measure by but tackles per game is useless because teams with super elite defenses will not be on the field much.

It's pretty hard to look good when your entire team is getting run over and dominated on both sides of the ball.

You will watch NFL and think meh he's actually a pretty good MLB, that wasn't really the guy I remembered from that Bama game I watched.

If Te'o was just mediocre in the Bama game he would have been a first round pick. He was laughably bad to such a degree that it called into question everything he'd ever done. He missed like 7 tackles some of which were pure 1v1 encounters where he got posterized. He was also awful at pass coverage against Bama. He was not mediocre but completely awful in every way.

Or, T'eo looked ok against smaller lines and when he came up against closest team to nfl (yet still worse than worst nfl teams) he looked ineffective and overmatched

If this was 1987 when teams didn't know how to beat zone defenses and players were much slower, I'd like his chances a lot in the NFL.

Hope those great football instincts can carry him, because he's getting buried physically. That usually doesn't translate well to the NFL.

He will not be good in the NFL. He was the most overrated collegiate football player in the past decade so why would he be good at the next level.
