I know everyone already knows this, but I'd just like to point out that if you had pitched this story as a movie, you'd get laughed out of the office for how totally implausible it was.

Well I'm guessing most people assume an "audio expert" is like one of those super-competant supergenius types that work in CSI or whatever cop show. More likely it's some idiot toiling away for lowish pay and few prospects for promotion, in exchange for doing a job nobody else wants.
