I'm going to assume that's the IRL version and not the 2p2 SE version, lol

If Schultz plays 76 games (or if you multiply his ppg by 76), and he has 70 points or less, I'll never post on 2+2 again.

You'll probably just come back as T and complete your username evolution.

Ya, I put that in so I can't win on a technicality if he plays 75 or 74 games due to the flu or something.

I mean, who do you match up against? RNH, Hall, Eberle, Yakupov, MacKinnon, McDavid...like, it's gotta be the greatest top 6 I've ever seen assembled. I know the rebuild doesn't work for everybody but boy oh boy, did it ever work for us. Thanks, Devan Dubnyk!

And I knew Ryan Smyth would make a great coach. How could he not? That majestic flow, that golden smile, that crooked nose...brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. I mean, I'll be the first to tell you I haven't always been comfortable with the decision-making of the Tambellini-Lowe old boys club, but ever since the Tambellini promotion, I think he's really done a great job of giving Horcoff the right amount of autonomy to do his job as GM properly. Well done, boys.

Got my tickets ready for game 1 tomorrow. Should be one helluva sendoff to Rexall Place. Can't wait for the new arena next year; bout time Katz ponied up 40% of the cash.

Tell you what, boys. If we don't win it all this year, I'll never post on 2+2 again. Book it.

Lol hilarious.

That guy does make a sick argument for smytty being coach though...

That said I don't welch on bets. 71 points by Schultz or ill never post again under any user name. I'm not worried. Just basing it on numbers/stats I'm like a 99% favorite. Obv he is probably playing above expectation, but there's no reason to think his production will drop by more than half. I'm just pointing out how ridiculous that claim was.

Saying he'll get 70 points this year (barring an injury) is just hating though. He's already at 31. There's a better chance of buffalo first round pick Pysyk (7pts, 19games) getting over 70 points this year, than Schultz finishing under. See what I did there?
He is both very good and running hot, I don't see why the two have to be mutually exclusive. Right now he's shooting almost 20% which is unheard of for a defenseman - even the best D shooting years are hardly over 10% in the NHL. I imagine he's helped by having such talented players around him, but I also imagine that he is running crazy hot.

that made me look up bobby orr's stats. never had a ridiculous s% but he led the league (all skaters) in shots twice. so sick.

Gretzky "ran hot" when he scored 92 in '82

I'm not being facetious here - it's good to see you post this. I think some of us from the more old school camp have felt over the last while that the variance discussion gets slightly too hyperbolic at times or takes over the narrative completely; when we see things like "running hot," our immediate reaction is defensive, for better or worse.

fwiw, I've heard the following opinion stated repeatedly: "according to Badgers players and fans, he's better than Gardiner." And I think the world of Jake Gardiner's skillset. If that's all his ceiling was, he'll be a damn good blueliner in this league, imo.

I mean, I know it's almost sacrilegious to say, but for me, Orr is the undisputed GOAT. No era adjustment, no special consideration for being a defenceman, none of that...just quite simply the GOAT.

There were also articles and posts on here about how eberle was running hot with shooting percentage last year (18.9%). He's currently at 22.2% this year (albeit in the AHL and a 54 shot sample size).

Just because a small sample size can be skewed doesn't mean it is.
