There are way too many positive vibes this morning.

I'll stay pessimistic. It's just easier that way when it comes to lockout talk.

So acting like a player's going to this meeting and "saving hockey" by saying "we shouldnt cancel the season because it will hurt the NHL longterm" is rampant fanboyism. Crosby doesnt really matter in this process any more than Toews, Adams, or Kevin Westgarth. Of course all that gets thrown out of the window if a deal gets struck, and the story becomes "The Kid Saves Hockey!" from ball washers like Rossi and Burnside. At least until the next lockout in 5 years. But here's to hoping something happens soon.
I miss us.

If they settle this now than Bettman and Fehr should be fired at least one of em.

that's ridiculous. fehr and bettman each have an impossible task, they're charged with not only reaching an agreement but 'winning' the negotiation. and now that the NHL has lost two negotiations that they thought they won (because the league has moronic GMs and a handful of bottomless-pocketed owners), they have to be even more on guard for the possibility of losing when they think they are winning.

yes, i do. this is around the time when the NHL risks serious damage to its brand if it continues any longer. the NHLPA is no doubt getting antsy as well.

Henrik Sedin had this to say:

"I don't know if they think they're dealing with kids or that we're stupid or think the fans are stupid," Sedin told the Province. "It's a little mind-boggling when you see what's coming out of their side. I want to hear a change, that they're actually going to give us something in return for the things we've given them."

This IMO is the biggest danger. The owners figure they are holding the big stick, and the players just have to bend over and take what they are being offered. However, in the end, the players just might have too much pride to bend over, and this just might result in the entire season being lost.

Alright, time to take roll call for the Seers who called the 2-month Operation Grind 'Em down by the Owners. We'll let 72o handle prize redemption.

1. Triumph
2. ?
... ?

Btw, I'm really gonna miss the intellectually honest, venomous satirical tweets of the DP account. I hope that guy knows what a rose smells like, if only because he probably won't be flipping it into a talking TV head role one day.

Today's Toronto Sun quoted the "Vancouver Province Report" (whatever that is) but didn't give a date for the quote.

The rumor mill is saying coaches have contacted players to be "optimistic" for a Dec 14th return.

Stats Canada @stats_canada

75% of Canadians would go without another year of NHL hockey if it meant Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams would get back together.
