I think my favorite part of each week is watching NFLN's post game. And seeing which person Irvin is going to namedrop. This week? The Aromoshadu guy that was on the bears and is on the Vikings. Definitely the most random one yet.

Jaguars defense took a pretty heavy hit today. Clint Session put on IR. With all the additions on defense, Session might have been playing the best. He's done a lot of good for Jax over the years. This one is a shot to the gut.

Also Jaguars have 7600+ tickets left for this game to sell. I hope it gets blacked out. This is ****ing embarrassing. The MNF game still has 10k+ to sell.

People aren't gearing up to see Matthew Leinart?

Also, I'm sure you all know Kyle Orton was cut today by the Broncos. Trade deadline can suck a dick!

Wonder if Houston has called him yet. Kubiak is so incestuous with the Broncos that it almost smells of collusion at some minor level. Seems pretty damn coincidental timing...

I say they should sign him for the right price if for no other reason than depth (if Leinart gets hurt TJ Yates is the back-up). If Leinart looks awful this week then start preparing Orton for next week imo. They may have to make cap space though to bring him in.

Houston is reported to have passed on him on waivers. Bears likely to claim him.

This does put this Colts in something of a ****ty spot though. If they pass on Orton, they have gone overtly Suck-for-Luck, which I'm all for, but "real" fans might be heartbroken.

Meh maybe if this happened and you were like 0-4 at the time but you're 0-10. I'd have to imagine the entire fanbase realizes finishing any better than worst is a big mistake

Blackout better just affect Florida markets and not Texas because I finally get to see my boys on tv this week.

Pretty sure they just black out the game in the local market of the home team.

I wonder if TNM has renounced his fandom yet.

Colts have to win 1 game though. Winning 1 game is like >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 0 in terms of historical perspective.

For sure, plus it keeps orlovsky from being a jeopardy answer in a few years

how can the fanbase want anything but the #1 overall pick when you're 0-10, you've sucked for 11 weeks, why start trying now?

Also, you don't need Luck, but it's going to be the most grossly overvalued pick in recent memory. Trade it for a slew of picks, solidify your D and your OL, and get Peyton healthy. Or if Manning truly is done, take Luck/RG3/Barkley and move on. But what's the point of going 3-13 or 2-14?

Didn't notice no one is sitting on 2 wins, so yea, get Orton and go 2-4 and win a couple games, just don't jeopardize the top pick.

Preaching to the choir man (except for not needing luck/trading the pick. LOL @you)

This for sure. Except I don't think they'll get Orton. But I see the first pick being traded for some solids players.

If Peyton ever played for another team I seriously might cry as gay as that sounds.

He's spot on here, although he left out the most damning evidence (failing to claim Kyle Orton). The Colts are clearly tanking (Jacknodding.gif*10)

For the second time in three years, the Colts' powers-that-be have abandoned this team, first by taking away a chance to have a perfect season, and now by placing them in the crosshairs of an ignominiously imperfect season.
Whoa there Bobby. Irsay and the FO didn't "abandon the team" they abandoned the season. This is the same dumb ass conflation that Noodle did earlier in the year.

The Colts will be around next year, and maybe even the year after that. Anyone with an interest in the team (Owner, FO, fan) will have that same interest next year too. Tanking a year that's already lost isn't dumb if it will help you long term.

"Curtis hasn't played a lot of football for us; I think he's got to be given a good, clear opportunity," Caldwell said. "There are a lot of things that happen during the course of a game that haven't always been his fault. I need to do a better job of helping him do what he does . . . and get it a little more tailored to his strengths. I didn't feel he's had a good opportunity to do that yet. . . . He's developing."

Do we look that stupid?

That is a direct insult to the intelligence of every person who has watched a single down of Colts football this season.
Well, not necessarily. If Caldwell really thinks Painter is a good QB and Irsay is supporting that, then yeah, it's super insulting. But, and I suspect this is the case, if Irsay is just letting Caldwell's dumb ass do whatever he wants (in order to tank the team) then it's more of a thumb-to-nose sign that we're all on the same page here: Losing, for lack of a better term, is good.

Quote:
In fairness, Painter played well enough in his first two starts, throwing for 281 yards against Tampa Bay and 277 against Kansas City. Since then, though, he has been abjectly awful.
No he didn't. Painter never played well. Garcon bailed him out in those first two games. When the screen passes stopped going for TDs, his stats regressed to his mean.

Like Orlovsky. What do the Colts have to lose? Another game?

(Right. The first pick in the draft. I forgot.)
Bob, when the first pick in the draft is Andrew Luck, it's not something you flippantly dismiss in a parenthetical

Quote:
With Bill in particular, it's all about being "vindicated." It's all about being able to say he was right. Which is why Jim Irsay has to use the chance to draft Andrew Luck as a springboard to clear the decks, jettison the front office and the coach and start over.
If Bill Polian is determined to let Chris take over, then yeah, it may be time for both to go, but that's a shame since Bill is a stud.

I thought the column did mention not claiming Orton, but it must have just been the PFT blurb that did.

Based on Kravitz's last column about Bill and Chris Polian, it sounds like not only is Bill planning to have Chris take over, but he's doing so at the significant expense of the scouting department and the other talent in the front office, and that driving away the people who helped build the Manning-era Colts is a big reason the on-field results are what they have been these last couple of years.

Even if I disagree with him sometimes, Kravitz usually knows his stuff. If he says the people he's talking to are feeling like that's the case, he's probably right.

It sucks too as Polian had done such a great job seemingly prior to deciding Chris was going to be the boy-king.

If that's Bill's feeling on it, then he and the kid have to go. Irsay won't do it, but he probably should.
