I wouldn't recommend mentioning losing weight simply b/c the vast majority of people are going to gain the weight back. If a woman tells me she's lost a lot of weight, my first thought is, "Great. It's only a matter of time before she regains it, esp. if she gets into a relationship." I suspect most women will think the same.

So that was my starting point


This week I was 211 on Mon and Tues, and 210.5 the last 2 days. Yesterday I had 1500 calories, went to the gym, and went to the driving range.


So my official end of bet weigh in is:

run bad. best part is I woke up and was 213 but felt constipated, so had half a cup of coffee and took a **** and now im 213.5. oh well.


This puts me at -9 lbs. 213.5 is 95.9% of my original body weight, meaning I lost 4.1%.

I am assuming 1500 cals per day has your burnt calories from the gym calculated into it? Or are you legit JUST eating 1500 cals a day. I'm pretty sure my body could not work on 1500 cals a day.

I'm 6,2 245 looking to trim down to 210. I go to the gym 4 days a week, but my diet is a tragedy. Need to figure it out! Coming to this thread for tips and motivation.

Thats how much I actually ate. Went to gym Mon Tues Thur Fri, Mowed lawn on Wednesday. Actually on Tuesday I believe I had an ice cream after I was done logging so that was like another +160

Log your meals on myfitnesspal.com and stay under your calorie goal.

They have a massive searchable database and a super easy to use iphone app.

is fitday in the cloud now? Like I used it the first time I went on a big weight loss jag like 5 years ago, but it was like, software that I downloaded that contained the database. Things were much less precise and less flexible that way. Plus I thought it definitely understated my maintenance calories.

uh idk its a website. it has me at like 3200 calories a day with "seated with some movement" selected. i never really look at that. I do think i have a slower metabolism because im not sure im really burning that much natrually (using a BMR calc had me come out at like 3500).

i mean i go to the gym a minimum of 3x a week, play softball and umpire/referee sports so im pretty active.

ok here we go -

started off at 197.2, got down to 184.2 after my first night out drinking all month, bounced back up to 190 briefly, ate pretty normally this week, just stopped drinking fluids after lunch yesterday and got to 185.4 this morning

so i guess i win?

i won't be able to cash in on the [aCtIoNjAcSon]avator[/aCtIoNjAcSon] until next week

i think this worked out well for the both of us - i didn't miss a workout all month and had no problems containing my drinking/eating to the weekends

Want to hear something weird?

I woke up yesterday, and the inside of my ear canal was a little itchy. I thought about reaching for a Q-Tip, but decided it wasn't bad enough to merit that.

And that's when I realized that I haven't reached for a Q-Tip in months. This astounded me, as I used to go through Q-Tips like toilet paper! There was always this watery stuff in there when I woke up, I think my sinuses would drain into my ear canals. Ear wax was a problem, too, I'd have to use those drops to break it up and flush it out. Now that I think of it, I think my hearing has improved! No, I'm certain of it! It was always an issue while dealing poker, someone would mutter something as they threw in their chips, and I couldn't tell if they said "raise" or "call" or "250" or whatever, and I'd have to cup my ear and say, "Did you say something?", and that half of the table would give me a "Clean the **** out of your ears!" look...and that's almost never a problem any more!

Who would have thought that losing weight could help my poor hearing!

Possibly related: I never wake up with a sore throat from snoring any more. I posted ITT a long time ago that I'm sleeping better, and figured the apnea wasn't the issue it used to be.

I'm thinking that the tissue that makes up the windpipe and the ear canal was getting fat, and that led to constriction, and now that they're not so fat, they're both opening up? Whatever it is, I'm fine with it!

I said it was all I think about, not all I talk about. We were discussing whether or not to mention it, not whether or not to prattle on endlessly about it. Right now, when people ask me to talk about myself (which is what they do on first dates), I can't ignore this part of it. My life has gone through a dramatic change this year. To me, it seems no different than if I just moved to this country, or just bought my first house, or just became a parent for the first time, or "insert defining, life-changing event here".

They say, "That's awesome," then we're finished with it. It's not like I can't talk about anything else.

(Though I'll confess that there was a time, not very long ago, where that WAS the case--I couldn't talk about anything else, and it was starting to annoy my friends. But I'm over that now. I only bring it up now if I smash a milestone, or when asked to talk about myself on first dates.)

Yes def worked out for both of us tho, my goal for the beach was 210 so basically got there

ytf: weird, as i am also losing weight and now have the problems with my ears that you're describing (it began before that, fwiw, but has not subsided and if anything has gotten worse) - not sure there's a correlation either way

my bad i thought you meant you talked often about it. mentioning it a few times is more than reasonable.

keep grinding out girls, weight, family. its pretty amazing what you've accomplished already keep it up at least till sub 200. Hows gym been lately, I can't remember if you've been going consistently yet.

Subway footlong for lunch. Pizza for dinner. 3 bags of chips, snacked on wheat thins, 4 or 5 cookies, and i think a dezenish beers.
