Doing a super low carb diet right now (Palumbo Cutting Diet) and its hell on me. I literally sleep 8 hours, wake up groggy, get to work and am just dragging all day and night until I get home when I am just drained.

I think I'm going to start eating around 2,300 cals a day and doing a 40/40/20 ratio of P/F/C.

Stop worrying about total carbs and just stop eating ****ty carbs

Had it back to 216 this afternoon (forgot to weigh in the am!). 4 days in Atlantic City starting tomorrow for bachelor party. Gonna go light on drinking the first 2 days while only the gamblers are there (well, that's the plan )

Is there some reasonable estimate as to how much water could be added in the short term? If you had a bunch of pizza/beer or ramen or some similar high-sodium food, how much could you realistically gain? How long would/should it take to get rid of the extra water?

oT,

Anecdotally from personal experience, I can tell you at least 5. I've "gained" 7-8lbs on binge weekends in Vegas or stuff like that, then I typically "lose" about 5lbs of it in a couple of days. Given that fighters cutting for fights lose 10-20lbs in a day or two before the fight, I bet you could prob gain even more than the 5lbs of water weight I've experienced.

people like pretending losing weight is really confusing/hard/wahtever so when they fail it feels better to say/think about. also that and the industry is full of bs.

It sucks to say: this is easy and i keep screwing it up.

I semi went off the rails the past week/weekend and am happy to see I'm sitting at 215 still. Time to push hard to get to 210!

I need to lose 4 pounds by Tues to make my goal of losing 100 pounds within a year. It looks like I will just miss.

That sucks. I read about all the side effects of low-carb, especially early on, but I didn't feel any of them. No grogginess or dragging, either. Feel great, honestly.

If it's something that helps you I don't see the harm, but I also find that focusing on numbers isn't necessary, and just stresses me out. Because I'm full I'm naturally (i.e., because I'm hungry/full) eating way less calories (but I'm also not weightlifting). A lot of folks in the keto communities I lurk on focus so ****ing much on macros and getting exact percentages of fat/protein/carbs, but I haven't paid attention to that at all. The value of this diet, for me, is that it's pretty thoughtless: don't eat a bunch of carbs. Under that rule I pretty much naturally get in the "proper" macro range.

I'm still going to keep my carbs low but not as low as I was doing. Just a couple slices of whole wheat bread, some brown rice, and all natural peanut butter. See if that helps me have a little more energy.

HP,

Any diet that you find easy to stick with and has a side effect of caloric restriction is prob a pretty good choice for people w/ a primary goal of weight loss.

This.

What Randall is doing is very unnecessary and temporary.

The IF thing has been amazing for me. I just don't have enough time to eat loads of calories.

I don't count at all. Eat what I want, don't work out, and still I'm managing to lose 1-2lbs a week. I am quite active at work though tbf.

I've been doing the intermittent fasting as well and it's something you just get used to. As for your diet, what weight did you start tracking at and what are you at now? I've finally hit 180 to 182 (from 235 lbs)and I'm much more conscious about calories consumed since I have less room for overeating. Congrats and keep up the weight loss btw

A 40/40/20 P/F/C diet isn't a good idea?

I started at 208 and I hit 179 yesterday.

I'm definitely more conscious about what I eat, but if I feel like having ice cream or something I just do it.

I started out logging everything, but eventually just turned a corner to where I had a rough idea about what I was taking in.

A good bit of my weight loss is most likely due to not drinking nearly as much alcohol through the week.

It's better than what you've been doing; you know, the thing that your body keeps yelling at you to stop doing. Why not just eat normally and alter portion sizes instead of altering macros?

You plan to stay on a 40/40/20 for the rest of your life? If not, then what's your plan after you lose the weight? Whatever it is, just do that now.

So I lost 34 pounds between Sept-Jan, went from 176(skinny fat) to 142. Around new years decided I would relax on losing weight. Started eating without really keeping track while continuing to workout. Floated around 146 til the end of April and since then I've put on about 10lbs putting me at 156.2 this morning. All of the weight I put back on went right to my gut which sucks.

I've been outta control the past few weeks and at night I find myself binging. I've been trying to pull it together this past week and then last night I go and smash 6 slices of pepper and onion pizza, half a small fry which is comparable to a large from a FF joint I'm sure, then a vanilla milkshake from BK after the person I asked to pick it up asked me 5 times "are you sure you want a milkshake fatty?". No willpower recently. I'm either depressed or need to cut back on the ganj as I seem to have the super munchies.
