Reuters: Full Tilt Poker, Pokerstars and Absolute Poker charged with illegal gambling Reuters: Full Tilt Poker, Pokerstars and Absolute Poker charged with illegal gambling

I'm trying to think of an elaborate way to say this all sucks, but it just.....sucks.

In the past couple of weeks, I'd begun thinking about starting to make a real investment in poker. Off and on, screwing around for the last 5 years or so, I had turned high finishes in freerolls into about $100 or so on PS. Never really had time to seriously consider playing for meaningful money until recently. I guess I'm fortunate in a way that this happened before I deposited more money and starting dedicating a lot more time into this.

Hopefully, someday, this leads to some form of regulated poker so that everyone who wants to play and wants to be a professional poker player can do so. I can't imagine the true intention of the government is to end online poker. So I'm optimistic. It's probably easier for me to say that being on the outside of this right now, not having money tied up in this like others here do.

You seem smarter than this, sir. You realize that the main charge is money laundering, right? It's against the law in the US to do what they did. (it's a whole other story as to WHY they had to launder money, however, they blatantly broke the law.)

Last week I got a speeding ticket. Did you know that in Germany they have roads where you are ALLOWED to drive over 100mph? Were my rights infringed upon?

Yes, of course.

Now read the licensing rules for IoM and Alderney (PS and FT respectivley). For the DOJ to get their hands on these segregated accounts, a court in the licencing juridiction is going to have to conclude that the acounts are assets of the poker site. Please explain how they will reach such a conclusion, given the rules in their jurisdiction.

Does the law actually say that, or does it say that you cannot lie for the purpose of disguising an illegal tranaction or for the purpose of trying to launder money obtained from an illegal activity?

Do US banks have the right to ask you where every deposit you make comes from? And you have to tell them the truth, even if it is totally legal but embarrassing?

These assets may be segregated but if they are in the poker sites name I believe they are fair game for creditors of which players are creditors too. If this money was 100% segregated and 100% belonged to the players you would be able to cash out now. If the sites refused why then couldn't a player sue for his money in that jurisdiction if things are the way you say they are? How would a court in Alderney rule if I sued for my FT money today?

The complaint refers to poker as "illegal gambling." Does this mean they are going to go after players?
