But you aren't going to be in another country. You will be giving a friend access to your account (which already violates terms of service) and having them falsely change your address, withdraw the money, then send it to you back in the states.

This is sick. Can you transfer real money? What's the going rate on internet poker money now, lol. Anyone want $23 pokerstars dollars for 20USD on Paypal?

I wonder if the rakeback sites will/could give this weeks RB?

Although it sucks to lose what I'm assuming is around 25-30% of cash games traffic, I have to say I'm kind of excited to play games filled with Russians, Greeks and 90% VPIP over-aggro Fins.

Losing the Italians and the French was really devastating, but losing the Americans is actually a good thing for the softness of the games.
Can someone provide a sick graph for today over a decent sample size?

Good point. Thanks. Think I'll just hang in there and see what happens. Good luck all.

+1

Honestly, I'm out practically nothing, it doesn't have any affect on me financially. But seriously, ppl, have a little respect around here. There are a lot of ppl whos lives have been turned upside down right now.

As for the Canadians, I know a lot of you like to watch poker on TV. Keep in mind that the outcome of shows such as PAD, HSP, PS-TBG, and even the WSOP are seriously up in the air.

And all you regs, don't hesitate to REPORT idiots. The mods can't do it without our help.
Lets all -try- to be civil here amidst the chaos.

For those of you who have a substantial portion of your net worth tied up in Pokerstars or Full Tilt, and people who dropped out of college/ quit jobs to pursue online poker as a profession, I feel for you.

It's kind of ridiculous that we didn't see this coming. I mean, the congress passed a law making it illegal to process gaming transactions, and then nothing happened. Sometimes echecks would go down for a while, and I once western unioned a payment to someone in Costa Rica for a deposit. WTF right? A little shady?

Anyways, to me, two things are clear. One that the major sites are going to completely withdraw from the US until the charges against them are resolved. Poker stars is a profitable publicly traded company. Even if the US government seizes its share of late taxes, fines, penalties, and interest Poker stars will still be afloat and find a way to reimburse its players in order to remain reputable.

For those of you that grind out your income on online poker this is devastating and I realize that. I have a couple friends who haven't had a traditional job in years, including my brother. However, if you are financially able, take the next couple weeks and use it for introspection.

IMO poker is exciting, profitable for some, and dynamic. It is not terribly fulfilling though. Take a day, go for a hike, swim, paddle, mountain bike, head to the beach hit some late season snow on the slopes. Get back out reconnect with nature and refill your soul. There is a movement in America noted in the book "Last Child in the Woods" by Richard Louv. The cliff notes is there is a marked difference in children who get out, and are connected with nature than the ones who don't. Take this as a beginning instead of an ending, find something you are passionate about other than poker.

I know this will look ridiculous to some, but its not a troll. If this resonates with anyone drop me a PM and we can talk. Also Americorps is hiring for all sorts of national service positions across the country.

good luck everyone,

E

The US Government really has you scared, if I wire you money and I say its for golf balls when it's for baseball tickets you think I broke a law? The only business the Government has in knowing who I am paying money to and why is if its for illegal purposes, like ILLEGAL internet gambling.

If you just pretend its real money though i don't see why you cant just play with play chips. at least you'll get to play nose bleeds if you work up and are dedicated. that's something micro cash players cant do. so its nose bleed play chips, if you put the effort in and work up, or micro cash games. when you thing of it like that its really not that big a deal
Funniest post ive seen. Can i cash out my nosebleed chips for a car? LOL

Sorry if this has already been asked, but does anyone have an estimate as to how long this will last?

I guess Poker Stars, Full Tilt and Absolute are pretty much screwed, so I guess what I'm asking is how long will it take to get online poker legalized?

If you're asking how long before Americans can play poker online for real money on a good trustworthy site that is regulated then I'd say close to 2-3 years.

PokerStars.net is still up and running
