Yes, about as much pertinent info in these recent posts as the WSOP itself has provided.

Nonsense.

The "important fact" was that hogs were sent live to China, where they were slaughtered and then the meat was shipped back to US retailers .... something that your OWN source said was FALSE.

The hogs processed by Smithfield in Iowa most likely come from US sources and are not shipped live to China, byrchered and then shipped back to Iowa for further processing.

FWIW, none of this has squat to do with the incidence of coronavirus in Las Vegas, or Iowa for that matter.

Working conditions in meat processing plants have been horrid for over 120 years. Read a dramatized account in The Jungle by Upton Sinclar.

No one cared what parent company owned Smithfield or what that had to do with the WSOP or the price of pork in Iowa.

Blame Caesars.

Nature abhors a vacuum, so until they make the inevitable WSOP announcement of some sort, not too much else to do in these parts.

You should be thanking Ted for the entertaining nonsense he spouts, citing authority that contradicts him and then doubles down ..... kind of like a POTUS briefing on the Coronavirus, but without dire consequences.... until WRT opens his poker hotel and sources Chinese spareribs overseas.

I, for one, will not eat spareribs at Ted's hotel, ever.

You're just mad because you compared the workings of a South Dakota plant to Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle" and had no idea that that plant was owned by a Chinese company until i told you. I guess I can't really blame you though because the New York Post article didn't mention it either.

Now back to the WSOP.

That doesn't even make sense. He's mad because he compared a slaughterhouse to a famous book written about slaughterhouses?

Back to your Poker Hotel Ted, stay in your lane bro....

Stay in your lane Jane...or are you too legit to quit?

The wsop will be postponed and probably we will play no live until 2022 and then with full blown ANTI hazard gear (surgical masks, jumpsuits and bandanas)

As mentioned before poker and the exchange of chips makes this a Disneyland for viruses.

Even if they make an announcement, I'm not sure anything will change unless they've really thought outside the box and decided to do the whole outdoor WSOP thing someone suggested. I mean, we've pretty much covered most of the things they might announce (cancellation, postponement, online, etc.) About the only thing they can announce that would come as a surprise to most is that they are proceeding as scheduled with no changes.

1) Sports could go the route of porn ... every participant has to get tested before they 'play'.

2) Heard a conversation from a distance in a Sam's club yesterday about a meat processor shutting down. I assumed it was a local one ... possibly not if they were referring to the Iowa situation.

3) From a casino source ... Unless there's a drastic change in the ability to ensure that the spread of the virus is 'under control' and/or predictable and/or there's clear testing measures in place the likelihood of any person to person games being opened in the short term is unlikely. The opinion is that pit/table games really aren't that much different than poker when it comes to cross contamination and/or physical proximity to other players and/or Dealers.

That's a lot of conditions ... but that's where we are right now and until someone, anyone, comes up with some highly reliable methods to prove or disprove the presence of or ability to resist/recover from the virus we are all just speculating.

4) Video popped up on FB yesterday ... The China/USA trade agreement was agreed to 'in principal' in mid-December. The final agreement was signed in January ... after a pandemic clause was added by the Chinese. Very interesting ... GL

Ok, you are starting to worry me.

Please show your work on

1) scientific study on summer heat effect on virus. seems to me that this is not yet proven.

2) as importantly, list of people that would play or deal poker in 110 degrees heat. My list is included below.

its about time the admin's close this thread. -- i think it has run its course, unlike covid 19

Not at all.
This thread serves the great, secondary, purpose of acting as the covid containment thread.

Interesting partnership ... which tail will wag the dog will depend upon who really controls the money and the player access information.

No US players allowed ?

Well, you read my post closely enough to quote it and bold a segment of it. But apparently you didn't read it closely enough to deduce that I wasn't the one who made the suggestion. Forward your queries to that person, if you are so inclined.

I'd normally assume this was a joke, but in your case, I'm not sure.

Can't imagine how they could.

It's branded as a WSOP Circuit, awarding 18 rings rather than bracelets.

This could be huge, right? I wonder what Stars and Party will do to try and compete.
